Any relevance to the no Carbs after 7PM rule???

Seems to be valid if you train in the day or something (cutting)
Bulking, you need a constant supply of nutrients carbs are quick and abundant

It also kind of depends on your goals. If you're cutting, you shouldn't eat too much of anything before bed (within 3 hours) since whatever it may be (carbs/protein/fat) will be stored as fat while you sleep. However, if you're bulking, it's good to have a big hit of protein before bed so your body has it stockpiled to build while you sleep.

I'm not sure I agree with that. When cutting, I think it is important to take in some protein (a la protein shake) pre-bedtime to help feed the muscles during the night. It is so easy to lose muscle while cutting, why starve your body longer than necessary?

If you included the pre-bedtime meal for your daily calorie count, why would it be stored as fat?

It won't......very overplayed......your body really does not operate in a 24 hour format like we do.....I've preached this before....it thinks in terms of weeks and months ahead, to anticipate famination, starvation, etc......that's why we can cheat for a full day and only put on a litle bit of h20......eat up...

I knew there was a reason I had a crush on you. :) (besides all your diet experience). My question was self-answering, but I am very glad you threw your 2 cents in.

I have tried to tell people this before - that WE impose the 24 hour day on our bodies. Eating carbs at 7pm, 3am, 1pm, it doesn't matter. The body doesn;t know the difference. What it DOES know is activity level. Eat to fuel the upcoming activities. If you are going to train, eat to train, If you are going to sleep, eat to rest.

Eating late at night will not cause fat gain. Excess calories does this.

i  you. :)
