Another Fun Sunday, 3-24-02

Ouch...feel the pain.

Wow, great job. Sounds like you are progressing great. Just out of curiosity, don't the tires on WSM weigh 800 lbs.?

Keep it up,

JC

They vary in the WSM from 750-880...all depends on what year you look at. The height of the tire makes the difference on how heavy it feels too.

In Boston, 6 weeks ago...we used an 800lb tire...heavy enough when we were flipping it for 100 feet in 120 sec or less.

It is just for variation. Every single tire that you use will feel different. Some have tread, others do not, some are tall and thin, others are short and very thick.

My small tire is a combine tire with strange tread in the middle...this one is an earth mover tire with no tread...must grab at the bottom. Must place your body at a more mechanically sound position..ya know?

Yes...but a smart man will grab very low on the tire...I think. I am just a young amateur though...who knows.

Yes...but you are a VERY good amateur....

He forgets to include that part, joncrane. ;)

Are you guys going out or something?!?

BTW, NIghtFly, I KNOW he's a good amateur, I love seeing the pics on here. And I am totally rooting for him because I am tired of watching Finns and Swedes win the WSM competition, it's time for America to take it back!

As far as the tires go, try it both ways and see what works better (meaning faster). I think some guys have stronger arms and thus can get away with not bending down as far. Also It seems I see competitors doing that later on in the race, like their legs are tired so they start using their arms more.

Are you practicing for the car holding events (the one where you deadlift the back end up and hold it at an angle for a while and the one where the cars are facing away from you going down ramps and you have to hold them together)?
