AM HIIT - I foresee a love/hate relationship..

For years I've been a "steady-state" after-work cardio kinda girl.. mostly from the misguided notion that it was better. And if there exists a polar-opposite of the "morning person", I am that person.

Thus, the idea of AM HIIT was both offensive and horrifying, to say the least. :)

But after following the log threads on this board, and seeing the great results you ladies were getting (in a third of the time I was spending on cardio!!), I've had no choice but to change my thinking.

Monday morning, at 5:30 I got my sorry butt out of bed, and did my first session. O. M. G. That was no joke!!! By cycle 4 I thought I was going to die! :eek2: I did make it to 8 though, amdist some unladylike cursing and an ocean of sweat. Longest 12 minutes EVER! lol..

But now, having done it 3 x this week, I think I'm getting hooked.. :) I love that it takes 22 minutes instead of 60. I love that I haven't gone up in weight, as I feared I would. I love that it frees up a lot more time in my evenings and starts off my day with a bang.

And even the getting-up part isn't all that bad.. :)

I've done HIIT on and off over the last 5 yrs - depending on how much time I have. I will throw out yet another props to the AF guys for Cardio Breeze (no I'm not getting paid) but that stuff gets my ass woke up by 2 min into the AM cardio session.

Just like switching up your training regularly, I think its borderline critical to change up your cardio as well. The body is very adaptive and when it has optimized on a particular activity, it is no longer going to be optimal. So keep it guessing!

Girl... let me tell you I FEEL YOU hahaha.....

I freakin' hated cardio, and never did it, let alone get my ass up out of bed and do it first thing in the morning, but I forced myself to do it, and after a few weeks it got easier. You'll get used to it.

I have the same love/hate relationship, believe me, I so understand :)

lol.. a combination of lack of knowledge and failed previous attempts due to a fat-burner that didn't agree with my empty stomach.

Im tellin ya...I was covered in a cold sweat and my skin was literally crawling....

Ok I'm convinced now to try the whole AM cardio but it's just so damn hard after pulling an all nighter, working out after 3 hours of sleep and going to organic chemsitry. If yall hear of an accidental explosion at a South Florida Campus.........yall know what happened! lol.
