A weird UFC rule and...a flaw in the Brazilian jiu-jitsu system?

bjj was designed to be taught as a complete system. i agree that a lot of schools are just focusing on a limited part of the art but that is not the styles fault and it is not how it was originally designed.

its the same way that Judo is a complete system but most people just focus on the sport of judo which eliminates a great deal of the arts techniques.

that again is why you cant judge someone by there style you have to judge them by how they train.

i have my moments...

I agree where you judge on training. I agree in context that in general that judo is complete in it`s nature. If a style is a complete part of another style, the very nature
of it is in complete. Judo came from Ju-Jitsu so if a man of judo was attacked with a weapon. He would only know how to defend against it in the relm of his style. But Ju-
Jitsu also gave the world Nin-Jitsu (combat with weapons). So if a JJ man was on the
ground that`s part of his relm Bjj. Boxer, JJ gave the world Karate. Individualy each
style is extremely effective in general.

Dude , most Karate systems are easily traceable through Okinawa back to China . They had nothing to do with the Sport of Boxing , OR its predecessor In-Hugg Wrestling . And Ill save you ANOTHER Phallacy , theres NO connection between the modern Sport of Boxing and what the Anchient Greeks did , wich looked a HELL of a lot more like Muay Thai or San Shou fighting .

BJJ IS A GREAT MARTIAL ARTS BUT REALLY DEPENDS ON THE FIGHTER IF YOU ONLY DECIDE TO USE BJJ AS YOU MAIN DEFENSE YOUR IN BIG TROUBLE. THEY ARE PLENTY OF TAKEDOWNS YOU CAN DO THAT DOESNT INVOLVE DOING A SINGLE OR DOUBLE I myself a Judo guy can do nasy takedowns with out GI so if you know a little bit of everything you should do okay thats why is call Mixed Martial Arts you need to improve your game in total. And to say BJJ has a flaw well thats why you incoportated other Martial arts in your game!! but doesnt mean that system is plain garbage common now!! is more effective then Karate and Kung Foo

I agree boxing had nothing to do with Karate. If that`s the message i sent Please pardon me. I was only trying to convey the different styles of JJ that can be applied when confronted by other forms of fighting that bjj can`t because it is a part of a whole. I listed several forms that came from JJ. In closing i was`nt sure if Karate was one of them, if not i stand corrected (RESPECT). But Like Diesel said a mixed styled system or multiple art`s is the only way to go when you need to improve your game in total.
Diesel I don`t know if you were refering to me when you were saying that i infered that bjj is garbage.I an trained under the system of FUJI RYU JU-JITSU
bY SHI-HON Ranson. Who`s Shi-hon before that was master Muhamehed. The reason for the lineage is the 3 Japanese brothers that brought the system over taught Muhamehed, i am only 4th generation.Bjj which is really Japanese JJ in brazil is a part of me and has`nt been watered down because of passing
Generations. I`t is disrespectful to insult another style let alone something that`s a part of my system i could not do that. OOS!

My belief is that anything called a "style" or having such a definition would most likley be incomplete. Not sure how you could see it otherwise. If you think about it a style is alot like saying "I have set limitations, if you do anything other than the movements set for this technique then it no longer is my style." Patterns, set movements, moves away from actual combat. How can a style having throws, but no punches be complete, or having only strikes but no way to use these effectively once on the ground. All styles are "flawed".
