A handfull of pr's from the last week

Man you put up the 405x3 super easily. To me it looked like you put up that 435 pretty easy, looked like you'd maybe be good for like 455. When I put up my max it is one son of a bitch of a struggle to put it up, goes up much slower than you put up 435:(:)

Thanks! Yeah I probably could have done another 10-20lbs pretty easily but was super happy to get this. I also train my bench for speed. I like to think of bench like loading a spring. You compress it on the way down then release all the stored energy in one big shot.

Same here, if I fail it's about 6" off my chest right at the transition point. The weight will fly up to that point and just stop. My buddy always gives me shit about who hit the brakes.LOL

lol

do you ever bounce it off your chest or is it always controlled?

I can lift relatively heavier when I bounce though

It's because of the aforementioned rebound. You are literally using your tendons as elastic bands to gain momentum. Aside from the dangers of doing this you are also limiting your muscular developement from the lift. Bouncing prevents you from properly engaging your lats at the bottom and from maintaining a shoulder lock. Also since you are now catching the weight on the way up there is a double tap effect on your pushing joints (shoulders, elbows, wrists). This could explain your elbow pain for on thing.

And as I tell anyone I ever train it's better to lift less weight properly than more weight poorly. Doing it right will increase your strength faster and your gains will come easier. In the long run you'll be bigger, stronger, and healthier.

That's true. I don't do it now in DC training, everything is very controlled and my gains are def. much more pronounced.
