t was less than 4 years ago when Essendon played Brisbane in the 2001 AFL Grand Final, flash forward to this Saturday night and it's 16th and last placed Brisbane taking on the equally struggling Essendon at the Phone Dome.

The Bombers fresh off a scrappy victory over Collingwood on Anzac Day have the chance to stick the knife into Brisbane's carcass while pushing for a Top 8 spot (something that sounded unthinkable a mere two weeks ago).

Ted Richards has been screwed over by Kevin Sheedy yet again and has been unjustifiably dumped along with young midfielder Ricky Dyson while Kepler Bradley and Joel Reynolds come into the side that beat the Magpies last Monday.

So can the Bombers kill off the Lions 2005 hopes?

It appears reports of the Brisbane Lions' demise were greatly exaggerated. The Lions were back to their old selves on Saturday night as Jonathan Brown almost single-handedly destroyed Essendon at Telstra Dome.
