Panthers present challenges for Devils

The Devils will be fighting to end a 2-game losing skid when they host the Florida Panthers Tuesday at Continental Airlines Arena.

Sporting a 2-3-0 overall record and a 2-2-0 mark within the division, the Devils aim to knock the Panthers (2-1-0 in the division) for a loss.

The Devils are favored, opening as 160 chalk, with an opening total of 5.5. They are 2-3-0 this season and 2-2-1 OU. The Panthers are 4-3-0 and are 1-6-0 OU.

The Panthers come off a 4-0 loss against the Rangers, a game where they were 120 underdogs. The game went under the closing total of 6.

Larry Robinson's troops were at home against the Hurricanes last game and came away with a 6-1 loss, a game that went over 6. Oddsmakers had them as 195 money line favorites in that one.

With the league's #29-ranked offence, Florida either needs a breakout game or it's up to the defence to keep them in this one. The Panthers average just 1.9 goals per game.

Some trends to consider:
Florida is 2-11-3 OU in its last 16 away
Florida is 1-6-0 OU in its last 7 games
