Astros seek series stranglehold Sunday
The Houston Astros will be looking to pick up their third straight win on Sunday, and in the process take a commanding 3-1 lead over the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series.
Brandon Backe (10-8) will get the ball for Houston in Game 4. St. Louis will counter with Jeff Suppan (16-10).
St. Louis opened as a -121 road favorite in this contest. Oddsmakers have set the total at 8.5.
In Game 3 on Saturday afternoon, Astros starter Roger Clemens allowed two runs over six innings as Houston topped the Cards 4-3 to take a 2-1 series lead.
The Astros won as -128 favorites at home on Saturday. The combined score fell just UNDER the game’s posted total (7.5).
Mike Lamb hit a two-run home run for Houston in the Game 3 win. Jason Lane also picked up an RBI for the Astros. Larry Walker, David Eckstein, and John Mabry drove in runs for the Cardinals.
