Skipping breakfast?

ceo

Chairman of Board

Someone in the gym asked me the other day about how to lose some fat but not lose muscle. I asked him to tell me about his diet and he said, for the most part he eats really clean (sure, everybody says that).

I asked him what that meant and as he started to stutter, I said, "Tell me your usual daily breakfast." He told me he usually skips breakfast!!! He said he just got his coffee and that allowed him to cut some calories and still have energy to get him through the morning.

Holy shit! Well, there's your first mistake! I knew this wasn't going to be a short conversation!

I was reminded of this while reading through a website of one of our sponsors, and it's written pretty well there, so I will paste it here in case any of you (I'm sure not) are also skipping breakfast.

Skipping breakfast may seem to be a good idea, and indeed that seems to be the case for quite a lot of dieters. Some people just do not feel like eating from the first moment they wake up, while others see it as an easy way to avoid a few calories.

The problem with this though is that it is actually counterproductive to avoid breakfast. In fact, studies have revealed that far from causing you to lose calories skipping breakfast can greatly increase your chances of gaining weight.

There are several reasons for this. One of the main ones is that breakfast acts to fire up the body’s metabolism for the rest of the day. By delaying this process you will be less energetic and less able to cope with processing the foodstuffs and snacks that enter your body at a later time in the day

Also those who skip this very important meal at the start of the day, tend to end up eating more towards the end of it. Try to make sure that your breakfast is a healthy one avoiding fatty and processed foods, such as bacon or sausages. Stick to wholegrain cereals , whole meal bread, fruit and boiled eggs.

Bang ONN!! CEO. In fact, i've always been telling people in my gym who come up to me
to tweak their diets to start with the heaviest meal of the day and yup, that'd be breakfast.

A suggestion for those who don't feel hungry after immediately waking up. A half hour's brisk walking first thing in the morn on an empty stomach does wonders for the metabolism and sparks off decent hunger too :)

I wake up, shake the cob webs, then do my cardio, then RIGHT after that down a meal with lots of protein and water!

I have no idea why Im in the joose forum but...

the only time Ive ever wanted breakfast was after morning PT in the service...even now I run/hike/whatever in the morning and still don't want breakfast (no flames)

There are idiots at my gym that lift on an empty stomach am lmaooooo

Too each his own but if I try to work out after having eaten I'd more than likely throw up. Light weight stuff wouldn't bother me too much but heavy lifting would definitely make me ralph. Kai Green waits at least a couple of hours to 3 hours after a meal before he works outs.

first thing would be to spread those calories out and not eat 3 regular meals, but 6-7 smaller ones, and then not eating "breakfast" (aka when you first wake up) becomes less of an issue. But LOL at him saying he eats "really clean" .. most people wouldn't know what a clean diet was if it fell down their throat.

I think pwo is the most important of the day... Breakfast is a close second :)

wrong. Breakfest is the meal that turns everything back on. It gets you back into a anabolic state. It turns on metabolism, it gets the whole muscle building process moving again. All of this is on hold until you eat that first meal.

BWAHAHHAHAA what about some NTBM protein pancakes if added to a bulk stack and trying to gain weight.

Hmmmm

I dint skip breakfast or pwo... But that's jus my opinion.. I'm big on pwo

Ether way they are part of the 3 most impotent meals. am post work out and before bed. Yes all others need to be added and are impotent too but these are the 3 that make the most difference.

  ;)

I puke after almost every work out and hold it back through out

The thing I find most amazing about all of this is that CEO was actually at a gym...LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL, CEO bro you know I was just bullshitting. CEO has helped me a great deal with my diet and I appreciate him greatly. This cat knows how to eat to grow. Thanks for all you do for EF brutha.

its a sausage fest up in here....

is this because you guys are discussing breakfast?

Throwing up after a workout is about as catabolic as smoking crystal meth. I would figure out a way to avoid this if at all possible.

For the mos part if they can not tell you exactly how many cals a day they eat or ware they came from then they got no clue.

i agree. i am at the gym at 5am for my workout. i still get in at least 20 grams whey(to preserve muscle), a cap of beast and some more liqd whey post workout within 30 min and a good breakfast by 8am. then that will hold me till 1030-11. I couldn't imagine skipping breakfast. that's just muscle suicide. more than likely your muscle will get burned for energy usage. how hard is it to get at least a few eggs in the morning for the avg joe?

Im scared as hell every morning when I do AM cardio, as soon as Im done I almost literally RUN to the kitchen! lol
Sadly I just woke up and Im about to hit the Stationary Bike for some good ole easy on the knees cardio, PRAY FOR ME! lol

A few gear caps or a bcaa drink during your am cardio will halt catabolism and actually help with recovery.

Right now its sarms, halo, lipostim pre for right now, but I agree it would probably be a good idea. Im just hoping for right now since it just on the bike Ill be ok, because once basketball starts I will DEF be eating/drinking before all of those practices and workouts. Im also trying to take in a slow digesting shake before bed, so it hopefully slows the process.

Every morning I wake up and the first thing I do is have a Whey protein shake with 0% fat organic milk.
I take in at least 40grams of protein right away.
Since whey is fast absorbing I then feel hungry about a half hour later and I eat a high carb high protein breakfast.

At night right before I go to bed I drink cassein protein shake with 2% organinc milk.
The extra fat in 2% milk futher slows absorption throughout the night.

This is how I try to stay anabolic and not catabolic throughout the day/night.

By then its just water and a lil super pump flavor :o

I wake up starving every morning and immediatly down 2 whole eggs and 5 egg whites, wheat toast, 2 cups skim milk, and coffee. Couldnt start my day any other way.
