I Just Went to Order Whey Protein

THE STUFF WENT UP $25!!! HOLY MOSES!!!

I've been getting my protein from All the Whey. I like an unflavored isolate, which is hard to find. I've stayed with the same company because they did refills, good for the planet (they would just send the 5 lb. in a heavy duty ziplock bag), the company is sort of local to me so I knew the product wasn't crossing the continent in a bunch of UPS trucks (bonus in the summer) and they had little things like free shipping and 10% off for return customers ...

They just lost my business. Screw them. I bought 10 lbs. of Now unflavored isolate for only a bit more than it would have cost me to buy 5 lbs, so there $75.90, after shipping.

... the $64 question: where in the hell am I gonna store all this ...

It's such a handy supplement though, makes my life so much easier, it rounds out a meal, great to grab if you're in a hurry and hungry, good before bed.

10 pounds though ... that's a bag of cat food.

But I did save nearly $20 by doing it this way I'm just afraid the stuff is going to keep going up in price. It'll get used eventually. I'll just pack the extra tightly into a couple of ziplock bags, squish out the air, double bag them and cram them into the freezer.

Which reminds me, I need to put cleaning out the freezer and throwing the old stuff out into the woods on my list of things to do soon. I've got a couple of bags of mummified hot dog buns I'm sure the raccoons will appreciate.

I noticed (actually because it was unusual) that they WILL accept a check, you order the stuff online, they hold the stuff until the check clears. However, this is the first time I'm ordering from this company, so I can't vouch for delivery time/product condition/age. I trust the Now products (that's who made the isolate) I think they're a reputable big manufacturer, I've also heard this from a people in the supplement business, but distributors are where you run into trouble. Sometimes the reason distributors sell good stuff cheap is the shipment got stuck in a warehouse for the entire summer and everything has a funky taste to it I'll give you a review when I get the stuff .. plus I'll report back how large 10 lbs of whey is

I like an unflavored whey isolate (that's just me) but just try finding one! I can't stand the flavored stuff. The only time I drink a flavored whey protein is when I'm out of the house and hungry and can't find anything to eat (I'm gluten intolerant, so that happens a lot more often than you'd think). I'll get a muscle milk premixed at the convenience store, it suffices, that's about it. I trust Now Supplements (that's the company name NOW Foods - the official site of NOW Foods ). I've taken their vitamins for years, and I have tried their whey isolate before, and it was fresh.

The thing with unflavored whey, if the stuff is stale or was stored improperly it can get sort of a funky flavor that you notice when drinking it in water. Normally, fresh unflavored whey isolate mixed in plain water tastes like weak skim milk.

I learned long ago (after spending an absolute fortune on supplements) that the best thing to do is contact your local dairy company.. I'm in Australia, though I'm pretty sure you guys in the US have plenty of dairy companies Where do you think the supplement companies get their WPC/WPI/Cassein from? It's all a product of the dairy industry!

I tracked down our local (Nationwide) company, they are called the "Murray-Goulburn Collective", and sure enough they had big bags of protein powders just sitting around gathering dust. You think 10 pounds is a lot? I buy 20Kg SACKS at a time, unflavoured and instantised WPC/WPI/Cassein... I only buy protein perhaps twice a year, and I down a LOT of the stuff.. It makes me chuckle when I see people paying through their eye teeth for exactly the same product (except perhaps with flavoring) at a health food store.. (They are paying well over double what I pay...)

Seriously, if you are in this for the long term, it will pay you in spades to seek out a dairy company and at least ask them.. A simple phone call can't hurt, and could end up saving you an absolute fortune in the long run..

(My gym sells protein shakes [as do most gyms] with 30g of WPI. They sell them for $7 each. 30g of WPI costs me well under 50c! That's a $6.50 markup, and the shake machine never stops running, all day. Now that is a money spinner!)

Added bonus, if you buy WPC/WPI/Cassein, you can mix and blend the proteins to get exactly the effects you are looking for. A WPI Shake straight after hitting the weights is the best, as it is the most rapidly absorbed, but a Cassein shake is best before bed, as it is a relatively slow-burning protein, and will keep your body in an anabolic state for most of the night..

Not sure about your country but here in the use the smallest amount you will get from them is a couple of 40lb bags of unflavored protein at about 5.00 a lb 40x5=200.00 and that is even if they will sell you just the one bag. This price will not drop till you buy 500lb and then it drops to 3.50 a lb.

Now if you want the best deal you will have to buy a 2500lb pallet but it will give you a price of 2.50 a lb.

O this is also only the price on unflavored WPC and does not include the hella sipping cost they will charge you for shipping it. So Ya if some one wants to buy aaaah a year or to in advance of un flavored Protein buy all means call the Dairy companies. In fact hit me up in a pm and I will give you all there numbers.

If you want massive bulk Beef protein I got the hook ups for that too. Again un flavored and in large large bulk.


I mean its simple facts if you are willing to buy a crap load of anything you can get it cheaper. On a side note though. Your not getting flavored protein of any kind from any of them no matter how much you plan on buying. They dont do that sorry.


But if you really want to get smart you can find yourself a place that sells bulk freeze dried fruit and buy a crap load of that with bulk pricing to. Then just flavor your own protein with the freeze dried fruit.

Anyway you slice the cake there is a few things you will need.
1. A whole bunch of cash to buy it all in bulk
2. A big space to store it all. and also the right place to store it so it will not go bad.

I actually created this thread because I was pissed and confused about the fact that in less than six months a product I've been buying for several years literally jumped more than $20 in price.
