I hate carpets. Tore out some, wish I could tile throughout, then again this is hot florida and I have dogs

Carpets are filthy and gross. Area rugs over hardwood are fine.

I can see it making sense in Florida, but I wouldn't like a tile or stone floor in a living room or bedroom at all. Part of my objection is acoustic, too many hard surfaces make a room sound echo-y and harsh.
