I know that it's bad for some people, but I don't get why they decided to self harm.Depends on what kind of bullying it is. Verbal or physical. It can get really serious for some. But ya I'am also getting pretty sick of hearing it on the news all the time. Regardless on how much people preach or do whatever there's always gonna be bully's no matter what.

I tell my kids to attack back. Is he bigger then you? Use a chair. Worst case, they're kicked out and they get home schooled or I switch them to private school.
It's very complicated, and I can say first-hand that it can do permanent damage to a kid who is bullied. I was bullied as badly as anyone can be, and I still have issues from it. Bullies aren't evil, but they have no clue just how much damage they do. The bully victim would be better off getting his/her face slashed once, than to be bullied year after year. It's that bad! Take it from a nerd with high-functioning autism.

Just yesterday some kid hung himself about getting picked on or some shit. What pisses me off is to know that so many of these kids are on anti depressants or other psychotropic drugs. It could be that these drugs are doing more harm
Than good to a young kid. When u see anti depressant commercials you hear all the negative side effects that can happen. One being that it can actually increase suicidal thoughts. Kids just need to be tougher and kids need to know that's it's ok to go their parents and talk about the issues. Social media does not help in this regard.
idk about that lol. A lot of those jackasses grow up to be adult bullies in the workplace, sociopaths, psychopaths, etc. Terrible to be around, they make everyone miserable. Abby is not old enough for this, female bullying is a little different, mostly verbal but equally as malicious... but it's something she has to learn to deal with, it does not exactly go away once you grow up.

So....you're a bitch? There was one girl that I tormented in high school. She would steal all my boyfriends! Lol but really, she didn't deserve the two YEARS of torment I gave her. I mean girl'd the hell out of her, got people to hate her and talked about her behind her back, called her fat, I was awful...just to her, I can't believe I was capable of being so mean to someone. I was close to my psychology teacher and he saw what I was doing and he told me I needed to make amends with people say I was sorry to whomever because I might not get the chance again and when he said that I thought of her but blew him off... he was right though, it haunted me for years as I lost contact and I always wanted to tell her I was sorry for the way I treated her. 9 years later I ran into her and her mom during the holiday season, and I know they recognized me, so I gave her an apologetic smile and stopped to chat for just a minute. I told her I was sorry, and she seemed to accept my apology.
It was kinda like the mean girl movie. lolomg.

So....you're a bitch?
Well, didn't see that one coming...

Or do we just hear it more in the news? What do you tell your children about it?
Dad always told me he prefered being called to the principle's office because I whooped some kids ass for picking on me than because a bully whooped my ass...I know that it's bad for some people, but I don't get why they decided to self harm.
I tell my kids to attack back. Is he bigger then you? Use a chair. Worst case, they're kicked out and they get home schooled or I switch them to private school.
Lol I was a very sweet and sensitive little girl, and I don't consider myself a bitch today. I have no explanation for my behavior during that time.
I hate kids!
What pointless creatures!
When I was bullied by a group of girls in school, I beat the crap out of two of them. Then they got several boys to come after me. One day I found myself at my locker surrounded by five guys. Not only did they rough me up, but they groped me. The school did nothing, so I found the biggest baddest guy I could and made him my boyfriend. He went after every single one of them.
I tell my boys to be careful to stick to their own problems and give everyone a chance, but to beat the holy hell out of the guy that crosses the line so others know to leave you alone.
Violence is the last option on the list. But it IS on the list.Exactly. But sadly our society teaches that "tolerance" is the only way, which the pos's of the world will always take advantage of.

what the fuck???
damn, you must have went to a rough school.
what a bunch of chickenshits. 5 dudes against 1 girl?
none of the schools i went to would have anything like that happened. if it did, it would have been a shitstorm.
girl on girl violence is one thing...
if my kids bully i will kick *there ass (no not literally)
but if they get bullied they should kick ass
kids are cruel, but it's part of growing up.
parents should teach their kids to stand up to bullies.
they're all basically the same. the minute you stand up to them or get in their face they don't bother you anymore.
Violence is the last option on the list. But it IS on the list.
Not the case. Many bullies just try harder. Not to mention, many bullies are bigger and stronger than their victims....hence the bullying.
Not saying dont stand up to them though.
Us older people think kids are soft now a days.
The older generation always thinks the younger one is fucked up and has it easy.
"When I was your age we had to walk up hill both ways in the snow to school"
Shit like that should sound familiar to most of us.

strike first
strike hard
no mercy sir
is what i teach my kids about bullying
When I was in grade 8, I was bullied daily by a bunch of black girls. They would follow me down the hall and pushed me or they would wait for me at the bus stop and surround me like they were going to hit me. Then one day, I took all the IRISH I had in me and this one girl (still remember her name Dejon....shocker) went to grab me and I went hog wild on her ass! Went right in her face, yelled at her and didn't need to touch her and they all ran away like fucking pussies!
Since I was in my late teens, no one dare bully me.
I cried if someone was mean to me.
my son is in kindergarten and started wrestling this year and he's actually pretty good too...if someone fucks with him, i expect him to defend himself and he knows that...but, if he (or my girls) found himself in a repetitive abuse type situation that he could not handle himself?? that's easy...i hunt down the offending party's parent(s) and i fuck their shit up until they control their child's behavior.
what the fuck???
damn, you must have went to a rough school.

Lol. That is one way to stop your kids from being bullied. Here is something that might interest you. Benito Mussolini was a Elementary School Teacher prior to becoming Italy's Fascist Dictator, believe it or not it is true. Anyway, the story goes that the kids in his class were very unruly and he refused to discipline them, but he would go to the kid's houses and beat-up their parents, lololo, I guess it worked...
Back on topic, I taught high schools social studies for years, I never thought bullying was really a problem, kids are pussies nowadays, not one would have made it growing up in the 70s and 80s.. Bullying was bad back then - fight or flight - is right on! Parents and teachers condoned fighting on the sly...

My son was bullied badly in 6th grade and it was a very frustrating and powerless feeling as a parent. The school could only do so much, the parents were like Blueta said...bullies themselves and eventually I pulled him from that school.
I work on a children's psychiatric unit and outside of the truly mentally ill (psychotic, bi polar etc) I would say at least 80% of our suicide attempts that get admitted cite bullying as one of the factors. This would be for the kids who are making a real attempt and the kids who make a pseudo attempt. It's interesting that often parents are completely unaware of the bullying or have some idea but don't view it nearly as significant as the child does. Not in all cases...just more an observation I've noted over time.

Not a libertarian, eh? A person can do whatever the hell they want as long as they don't bother me and don't hamper my quality of life and I don't have to pay for it.honestly?? there's no damn bullying nowadays...unless you count the sissy-ass electronic bullying bullshit...and, you need look no further than the boys that are wearing eye makeup and skinny jeans (girl's one's for chrissakes) that they bought at the deb, to school...that shit wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes when i was in school...a (female) teacher acquintance recently told me that she thinks we need to bring back bullying to get rid of some of the nancy-boy bullshit that we have in schools now...bunch of fuggin' freaks walking around, attracting attention to themselves and they are encouraged to do so...not my son! he's enrolled in a sport where the required equipment is a very manly, clingy, nylon/lycra, singlet!![]()

I'm with digi...If my son is ever in a situation where he can no longer take care of himself with a bully I will kick the ever lovin' shit out of his parents.
balee dat

Could you make a comparison to the Slutwalk? It would be terrible if the female teacher, her daughter, her granddaughter got raped if any of them wore something too revealing.
Then again, a female friend of mine who did get raped completely changed her life and vowed never to suffer like that again. Changed her perspective on life immediately.
but, i'm sure there is a grain of truth to it...many people are confused and disturbed by the blurring of the various lines that were in place for so many years...and, many of those lines were simply a result of basic, undeniable differences between the sexes...and yes, i'm actually very much a libertarian...you can live however you want, but if you fuck with any of my shit (especially my wife and kids) in the process of "living how you want", i will chop your fucking head off, whip out my cawk and piss down your neck hole.I know that it's bad for some people, but I don't get why they decided to self harm.

I know a guy who's son was bullied so bad he pulled him from school. My oldest is a popular football player, and over the last year, has grown to be a pretty big kid. I talked to my son and told him the problems this boy was having. He befriended this kid and when the boy started school he introduced him to other kids creating a network for the boy to turn to if he had any problems.
The boy has been going to my son's school for over a month now and as far as I know he is doing well.
I wonder if we had a big brother system like that in place it would help some of the kids that are getting bullied.
Neat.
Why not tell the child to hit back? If he's not strong enough, then why not tell him to use a chair? Or a wrench? Or something like that? The average person won't cross a certain line (no, not murder or anything like that). Why not be willing to cross that line?
I think that parents minimize the bullying because their memories of their own experiences are from along time ago.
On a less serious note, so if I fake a mental illness and get transferred to your ward, I'll get to spend more quality 1 / 1 time with you? Excellent.
You want me to bully Plank for you, Cindy?
lol nah. Thanks though. This thread has made me feel guilty all over again. I suppose I deserve some abuse![]()

based on your work experience, would you say that bullying is worse or would you say that kids have less coping skills (and ass-beating skills) nowadays compared to back in the day??
just curious, since you have experience in the field.
Love the avi V!!![]()
I think it would make a difference for sure for some of these kids in schools. It's amazing the difference one can make!!

I think that technology has added a whole new dimension to bullying. It's so much easier and kids can be so much more cruel and reach a higher population with whatever they are saying. The other aspect is that kids are exposed to so much more then I ever remember being so often the issues they get bullied over seem so much more complex. For example, we see a lot of kids who are "bisexual" because it's like a trend and then end up doing something and the word spreads and everyone teases them, makes fun etc.
Kids do seem to have less coping skills these days and I'm not sure if it's because society has changed so much? parents and families are that much busier? more exposure to things? A combination of all of that maybe.
Geez, what happens in 10 years when your girls tell you about A2M?coping is learned behavior and for a lot of years now, most kids have been raised in a house where they aren't trained to handle issues as they arise...instead, mommy and daddy come running the the "rescue" (they're not really rescuing them) and they blame everyone else...it's the school's fault, it's the legal system's fault, it's mcdonald's fault (that my kid is a fat ass) etc...kids aren't trained to take responsibility for themselves and their actions...it's always everyone else's fault...and part of it is societal...if you take repsonsibility for anything in our society, there's some friggin' lawyer standing there waiting to sue everyone...the adults have been trained to not take responsibility and then they train their kids the same way...it's horseshit.
my kids (especially my girls...they're almost 12 now) probably think i'm a complete dork but, when we are standing out front in the morning waiting for the school bus i make them give me a kiss on the cheek and i make them recite the following phrase EVERY DAY..."we will take responsibility for everything we do today, whether it's good or bad"...i'm right...society is wrong.
my humble opinion.

Lol. What are they going to do text someone to death or assault someone with their ipod???
Here are three shocking conclusions:
1). Parents are pretty much psychologically unstable nowadays (engrossed with economic
apprehension, and they signed a "guilt clause" because their parents were hard on them).
2). Entirely too many single moms (lack of strong male figure).
3). The education system peddles counterculture ideas.

Also it's real easy to say what you won't allow your teenager to do but unless or until you have a kid/teenager, you really don't know how things will actually go. Plus, it starts with what you teach them at home about what is and is not acceptable as far as interacting with others be it online or in person.
I agree with your conclusions ^^. I do think technology plays a role though...I've seen kids who have attempted to take their own life based on texts, facebook etc and I've seen cases where charges are laid because of those texts/ emails. They may be the extreme cases and not the norm of society but it absolutely plays a role.
He's thanking god that Chris Hansen is out of business.so basically ledhead be creepin on his female students
He's thanking god that Chris Hansen is out of business.
Yeah, and you are thanking God Pete Townshend is out of business...
good reference
I can't recall "our" history but if you ever need a favor(s) I'll try my best
He was just doing some research!Yeah, and you are thanking God Pete Townshend is out of business...

lmao
Serious. That guy should have gone to jail.Yeah right! That fool was riding on the Magic Bus to see his nine year old girlfriend... If that was you or me, we would have done 2-5 in a Fed prison..
Serious. That guy should have gone to jail.
Hey V,, This is to you,,,,
I have to say That's is a FINE young man you have there. You should be extremely proud of him. No one will mess with the kid cause they know your son would crush them!!!
I feel bullying is bad. I get all the macho bullshit guys are saying on here but everyone is not going to an aggressive macho fighting guy like RAMBO it just isn't being realistic, & IMHO that's ok
These bullies pray on the weak kids. they wouldn't dare mess with someone that can carry themselves well. So they target the shy quiet type.. Its easy to say "go hit them with a chair" or what ever but some kids just aren't able too & again there is nothing wrong with that imo..
It sucks for them that they have to endure this treatment by these punks who get off on making others feel like shit.. If more kids would be like YOUR SON there would be a lot less bullying going on. It's hard enough for these kids today. Most kids just want to fit in. Plus we have guns & knives today. These punks are too scared to use their hands they are real tough when they have a gun tho..
I have 3 girls & 1 little boy. I teach my kids to never follow the crowd. If any of their friends are bulling anyone they better straighten their friend out or I will straighten my kids out.
Any way I am rambling in my old age,, But give that kid of yours a pat on the back for me!!!
