Zercher Box Squats...

Screwball

New member
Anyone try these? I really believe that these can help your deadlift. The Zercher squat forces you to keep your torso upright and when you do them off the box you are moving from static to dynamic. These things mimic a properly perfomed deadlift perfectly. They also really hit the abdominals hard. If anyone gives these a try; let me know what you think.

i know IRBD does zerchers every now and then so maybe he could help you on this,

I'd be interested on what people think.. its not a bad idea

I did box squat Zerchers for a few weeks when my neck was hurting...definately an interesting variation.

I think zerchers are excellent for the deadlift. I can actually zercher more weight than I can squat without a suit. I think tat is because it mimics the dead more.

I have never tried them off a box, but have heard good things about doing them from the bottom up. These would mimic the deadlift evn more probably.

Zercher squats are similar to a front squat. The bar is held across the upper chest/front delts with a front squat. The bar is held in the crooks (between the forearm and bicep) of the arms with a Cossock grip. The bar will rest at the upper abs/lower chest. It can be hard on the arms when the weight gets heavy but with continued use you adjust to the stress.

now that's an idea ! i do zerchers every 3rd ME squat day...but haven't contemplated doing them off the box. my converted BB training partner will love you guys for this...ha . he thinks i'm a sadistic bastard anyway. i tell him it's not about approaching your limits , it's about pushing past those self imposed limits.
