Your Abdominal Routine

Just wondering what u guys r doing to shread those abs up.

Mine r looking silly but maybe i could get them even better by listening to what u guys r doing?

Heres my abdominal routine which i do 6 days a week.

#1....Leg raises 4 sets of 40

#2....Crunch machine 4 sets of 85

#3....Side crunch machine 4 sets of 35 on each side

Now i cant complain with this routine since my abs r getting to look like the guy from six minute abs, but maybe u guys could commment on it and make it better???
 
I prefer working abs w/o machines, but that's just me...

Crunches - 3 sets to fail
side crunches - 3 sets to fail
reverse crunches - 3 sets to fail
 
I love working my abs with a physio ball. I find it really targets them and you are able to do various styles of crunches with them. I do 4 set of regular crunches to fail, then I do 3 sets of side crunches to fail. It takes a little pratice and balance is key, but this ball works wonders!!
 
Heavy squats, deadlifts, and maybe some hanging leg raise

And sometimes if Im feeling particularly gay, Ill hit the cybex ab machine.

Go for failure instead. You sound like you have a good foundation already.

I only do about 10-15 crunches each set 3x, but I squeeze so hard at the top I get cramps.

On the flip side I used to do 500 sit-ups every day when I was a gymanst and that did nothing for me.

6 days a week? Maybe cutting that down to 3x a week.
 
Juicehead, man, you're workin' your abs too much. They're not that unlike other muscles and need time to recover.

I had been doing the same thing pretty much...working the abs four times a week. A month ago I cut down to two times per week (Tues. and Sat.) and have seen much better results. Just make sure you hit 'em hard on the days you do abs and you'll see great results. :)
