450 x 7 amounts to a 545 1RM.........not 600+.

You brought up 450 x 10 and endurance.........I believe I already addressed that.

people throw out numbers all the time. Kovacs and his 725 bench, and there is a UFC fighter that is 310 or so that claims to have a 700 bench and 1,000 squat. The good thing for them is they will never have to actually DO IT! but it sounds impressive as you are about to enter the ring and beat someone unconscious...

If that were the case, then Coleman should enter the Bench Competition at the Arnolds this year.

If BPP/Scott Steiner got under there and only had to give his all for 1 rep, at his peak, I'd say 645 wasnt out of the question. Most of us just cant comprehend that kind of thing b/c we've never seen it occur and/or cant do it ourselves. [/B]

First of all, I have seen this. Second of all, I have had 600 lbs on a bench bar before. I know what that kind of weight feels like in the hands. Third, and by far, most importantly, there have been 4, count them, 4 men ever, in the history of the world to have benched 645 or more without a bench shirt on (RAW).

Bill Kazmeier benched 661 over 20 years ago. That RAW record stood for about 15 years. Most records in powerlifting, just like the olympics, only stand till the next contest.

James Henderson, benched 711. The most any man has ever benched RAW. James Henderson was a true monster, weighing around 400 lbs.

Glen Chabot, recently benched 665, I think, to beat Kaz's record, at a lighter bodyweight.

Scott Mendelson, benched 700 last year. He is closing in on 800 in a shirt and is one of the 2 best bench pressers walking the face of the earth at this moment.

Nobody in the WWF, currently is benching 600 or more. They just are not doing it. Wrestlers and boxers, despite what you would lke to believe, are endurance athletes, much more than they are strength athletes. Not to say they are not strong, they are, but top powerlifters could not possibly have the endurance to travel, and expend the energy of a pro wrester, not to mention being able to take bumps.

WWE, now, Superstars are incredible athletes, but they are not benching as much, or more than the top strength athletes of all time. Just ain't happening. This makes about as much sense as claiming that HHH, or Steiner can outrun Maurice Green. All Green does is train to run that hundred faster, all Scott Mendelson does is train to bench press more.

Oh, and by the way, Glenn Chabot is reputed to be a WWE Superstar sometime in the near future. If he becomes one, then we can all say for sure that one of the WWE guys is a legit 600+ RAW bencher. We can also all have a person there with whom to compare the size of these other guys, as Glenn's height and weight are known. About 6 foot and 308 lbs by the way. Or very near those numbers.

granted, Kovacs IS a super strong guy, but 585 on a smith is a long way from 725 on a bar, agreed? I'm just talking about people throwing numbers around, Hell, muscletech probably just printed that he could do 725 and he didnt even know about it. I did speak with him on the phone last year and invited him to compete in the Arnold Classic Strongman challenge and he declined. would have been fun to see him move some big numbers, I would hope for a Kovacs win myself...
