thanks bro, just calling it as I see it:)

the candidates can promise a lot of shit, and many do.....the problem is 99% can't deliver and never intend to once they get in office...the key words being get into office and I don't think this guy stands a chance in hell of ever getting there.

He's not really the diametric opposite so much as a tangent. Some people look at Ron Paul and think that nobody in congress will work with him. I think that he has the philosophical basis that allows him to work with both parties. He is for personal liberties, much like the democrats claim. He is for shrinking government, much like republicans claim. The most difficult elements for him to work with would be Reaganite neo-conservatives and socialist leaning democrats.

That's the problem. The parties are more polarized than ever. And more extreme. The Rebubulicans are becoming the party of Christian zealots and the Democrats have become the party of idealistic issue dodgers. I hate them all. Feckless assholes the whole bunch of them. We really have no choice. It's corporation A or corporation B. Once fucks you in the ass and the other fucks you in the ass dry. Take your pick.

LOL, it's why I switched to the Libertarian Party, but I don't agree with the Libertarians on Foreign Policy(which is why I vehemently disagree with Ron Paul). We should make up a Strict Constructionist party. And roll back any legislation not specifically spelled out as powers of the Federal Government. Let the Several States handle anything else as they see fit. Then Liberals can migrate to the state that caters to their values as can Conservatives.

Let's roll back the war on drugs (Religious right) and the war on poverty (socialist Left), throwing money at the issue has done nothing for either problem.

We already have one. It's called the Republican Party, but it's been hijacked by the Bushites.

I don't agree with Ron Paul on everything either, RG, but I agree with him on more things than I do with anyone else. That's why if the election were held today I'd vote for Ron Paul. Could he get everything accomplished that he wants to get accomplished? No. Because the majority of reps in Congress who would be responsible for assisting him get them done would not vote for them. That's why we have checks and balances. But at this juncture in history it's just as important to have someone in office who has a solid set of principles that mean something. The one good thing I can say about G.W.B. is he has a very strong and unbendable resolve. Unfortunately, it's to all the wrong principles.

not that I disagree with the premise of your post.........but by those standards there's no point in voting for anyone. Even though Paul would have a difficult time getting some of those things done that he says'.........at least having a president like him would get the ball rolling. Than maybe candidates around the country who think like him could gain traction in local or state elections............that's how things start. I would find it difficult to vote for someone who's going to keep the status quo.........no point in even voting imo.
