wsb...and weakpt chest...

ok,
i have been doing tris twice a week, with close grips, bb extensions, paul dicks press, and db extensions and sometimes reverse grip benches. this has really helped my tris, but they have always been strong relative to my chest for sure and maybe my delts.

i dont train in a westside way, more like powerlifterjay, i use some of the exercises.

i bench with middle finger on the ring, should i include some illegal wide grips in order to strengthen my chest? ive been thinking of doing my typical workout like powerlifterjay and then 3 days later doing some "hypertrophy" sets of bench press with a wide grip, instead of or after some military presses. wide grips do not bother my shoulder just im weak thats all.

give me some ideas as to how to bring up this weakpoint. wide grips, db presses, anything else?

i dont have a cambered bar sadly.

THANKS

floor presses and dumbells on a stability ball would help.

What does your upper back/lat area look like? Getting the bar off the chest is really a function of upper back strength as much as it is pec strength. Are you tucking your elbows to your side when you press? Are you bringing the bar to your upper abs? Are you doing speed work? Are you pinching your shoulder blades together and trying to drive your upper back through the bench when you press?

These are some things, besides the dumbells etc to think about,

B.

brian,
i am doing the upper back thing. but i do think that my pecs are very weak. i think i will possibly cycle in wide grips, db's and wt dips to address that.

my upper back isnt the greatest. ive been trying to work on my lats and upper back with bb rows, pullups and seated rows. not sure what else i can really do for upper back though. i guess i could throw some rear delt work, but that has never done much for me.

Well strengthning them couldnt hurt. Last PLUSA George Halbert talks about strengthning chest. I would say do heavy dumbells paused at the bottom and freakin throw them bitches through the roof. Do sets of a hard 6 to 8. Try some wides as well. But dont neglect the Tri's in back to get stronger pecs. Because i assure you those are more important.

If your doing my workout i would do them before boards. Or instead of flat bench. BUt i would do them before boards.
