Wrist Straps -- how they can increase your lifts...

Just started doing deads a couple weeks ago myself. My grip is definitely holding me back...I just can't hold the damn bar after 6 or 7 reps. Then I struggle through the rest of my back workout cause my grip is so torched after 3-5 sets of deads. I'm not going to use straps though...just work on my grip.

I had the same problem right after I started deads. Here is something you might try. (It helped me.) At the end of your back workout when your grip is fired, grab a couple heavy DB's. (I used 80-90lbs) Hold them at your sides for 45 secs. (Or til you drop them.) Then do it again, then one more time. When you can hold the first "set" for 45 secs, increase by 10lbs.

I did this for several weeks, and my grip caught up. I have no grip problems now pulling 405 for 6 singles on deads.

Just a thought,

Good shit man...I'll definitely throw that in. I got one of those stress ball squeeze things the other day. I'll spend 15 min gripping the hell out of it with each hand while I sit on a teleconference at work a couple days a week.

I don't use straps unless it is allowed in a "timed hold" event at a contest...

Citruscide: I just want to say that I am PROUD of you for finding a way to work around/through your injuries...very proud.
