Whoa, some of those comments are harsh..

"You can't even be in sumo fights with body/unrecognized mass/ like that.
So just get that surgery on cutting some of your stomach off or something. "

"gross gross gross have you no shame subjecting everyone to your vast piles of lard?"

"holy mother of god. Im speechless. "

Are those for sure real? Not trying to question you, but it's just that his face doesn't look that big compared to the rest of his body. Either way...that's NASTY!!!

OMG, that is a shame....how could someone let themselves get that unhealthy? I hope he finds the right kind of help before it's too late....

I think it's sad that some people end up like that because it would be so overwhelming to think "damn I need to lose the weight of 3-4 people". One thing that concerns me about people who get really heavy and undergo medical procedures like gastric bypass (and I really do think "to each his own" about things of that nature) is that the emotional issues that lead the the problem in the first place aren't addressed.

Oh god, he updated his webpage area and no wonder; look at what he has for a single meal. I couldnt have that in 3 days let alone 1.

yes, that is a lot of food....

I'm surprised that he hasn't looked into psychological help as one would think that with the proper pyshological help, the weight would come off....I mean, no one does that to themselves without having some type of disorder......I hope....

Not trying to be a smartass, but I'm unclear where that's a man or a woman. The name is male, but the person doesnt appear to have a penis or testicles.

I think they are just "hidden" under all that somewhere...wonder how he goes to the bathroom?!?!

I thought the same thing....

Seen this pop up yet again on another forum..
I still cant figure out leaving a comment! It times out every time ive tried..

Why is it not an unbelievable thing these days that a guy is 800 lbs? At what point does not being able to leave the house to see a doc about your weight because of your weight actually mean you might have a life-threatening health issue?

Yes, it's sad............but believable -- where society has come regarding food is not to a good place. I know I have my issues with food, but being 800 lbs isn't something to be proud of nor is it a place to look for a new diet.

There are severe psychological issues in place that are causing this young man to eat himself to death, like sexual abuse as a child. He needs a shrink now....

Oh my gosh, i actually feel sorry for him, but it is sad that someone lets themself get that bad, i have an aunt that just had the gastric bypass surgery, she is like 5'2 and weighed over 300 lbs...her stomach dropped to her knees already, i know she will be healthier but gosh the skin will be hanging

:-O
"the outrage!"
"But for the Grace of God there go I"....
:ryanh:

I feel awful for the guy. He looks young too. No one wants to be that size and it's more than an issue of just willpower, he needs to get some serious help.

I wish the people who left comments would have been nicer to him. We all have our issues, his is just more visible than some others.

An omen: I just seen this same guy on a special recently on tv. I guess hes trying another program to lose weight. It reminded me about this post/board since I had promptly neglected it with work keeping me busy!

u guys think that sad..there is a site....i have to find..and thye have pics and stuff of reall people who are 1600lbs...adn bigger.....its so sad....i mena they did it to themselves....but remember ''coe'' is and eating disorder too....i feel bad for them... although i feel fornunate...thats why i dont judge ppl on there looks...when i see soemone who is overweight at the gym, i dont think ew...i think wow thye are starting to take care of themselves..all people are beauitufl...in all different sizes

It reminds me of how Maury Povich always has severely overweight people (especially babies/young kids) on the show...that always makes me really mad because first of all, how do parents let their kids eat like that!? Yes, I understand hormonal issues and other stuff that infants/toddlers (and people of all ages) can have that cause them to be slightly or extremely overweight--but whenever he shows the kid's diet, they are always eating bags of chips, donuts and sweets, drinking regular pop, etc. and Maury shows them gorging themselves in the green room backstage! Aren't they there to address their problems, not make them worse? Also, the way he always has these kids parade around on stage in diapers is totally exploiting them...

I'm going to be teaching high school in the fall, and that man/woman/whatever is even more inspiration for me to accomplish one of my goals in the near future. I'd like to start a before or after school fitness program/club for young ladies (who aren't on school sports teams or are on teams that are not in season) so that they can learn good eating and exercise habits and have better health and self esteem...I really don't think health and phys ed address this well enough (all I ever learned in Health was how to put a condom on a banana and Phys Ed taught me how bad I was at basketball and tennis!) and there really is nothing in the way of health activities at most schools for the students who are not on sports teams--I think that other than in the classroom, that's another way for me to work at being a good role model for my students.

AMEN SISTA! :qt:

As someone that use to be over 300 lbs.......food is a HUGE addiction for me, I battle it EVERYDAY....it's soooo hard to get over that. I can understand how people can get that big, not everyone has the breaking moment like I did to get off their butts and do something about it......

The ones that said "emotional" issues is HUGE....I still haven't dealt with all of mine, but in the process of doing so. I do have depression issues but am handling it, I tend to overeat BIGTIME when depressed that's the hardest part I think.

But I do think those getting the gastric bypass should be recieving some sort of counselling with it as well.

Counseling is key...we studied a lot of cases of obesity/bypass surgeries and other treatments in some of my college classes, and too often it's overlooked. If anything, the person is given only a prescription for an antidepressant...which is NOT a cure or solution to the problem and has other side effects. Counseling (alone or with antidepressants if needed) must be in place.

And eating disorders, whether its anorexia/bulimia/overeating/binging disorders, etc are like alcoholism...it's not something you ever really fully are "cured" of. While you may not starve yourself/binge/throw up/overeat, you might fight with the urge to do so for a long time--years afterward--it's a matter of learning to focus those urges elsewhere (working out, another hobby, etc).

Well since I originally posted this: I guess what I dont understand is why he didnt get help long before things got this out of control for him. I dont doubt there are other problems associated with this, but to let yourself get to 1,000 or so pounds? I just dont understand why he didnt do something sooner I guess. Then again, I dont know the entire story..

Depression and eat disorders go hand and hand.
Have you talked to a dr. about this?

Pamela yes I was on Zoloft because majority of my depression is from having Post partum Depression.....I weaned myself off Zoloft and began talking to my doctor about all of my issues....I'm now taking St.Johns Wart and some other herbal teas etc..to help with the emotional issues.

I'm battling the overeating, and continuing to goto therapy for emotional support.

I do understand how some people can let themselves go, as it feels like your in the dark and you can't do anything about it.......

Most of you were posting about how awful you felt about his condiditon. Well I was thinking about his Caretaker.. How sorry I feel for them, washing his body ( he obviously can't do it himself) and helping him go to the "bathroom". It's such an awful situation. :wilted:

I was at a local ice cream place (cheat meal :) ) and saw a mini-van pull up. A family of five--a mother and four children, got out. The children were probably between the ages of 4 and 10. ALL of them were beyond overweight...the youngest had to weigh at least 90 pounds. And all of them ordered two or three scoop sundaes. (This is one of those ice cream establishments where even a single scoop is huge). After the youngest finished hers, which she inhaled, she started crying because she wanted more. So what does the mom do? Buys her another scoop.

I understand sometimes families go out for treats (or cheat meals, seeing that I was there for that reason), but normally try to eat healthy. However, something makes me think that this wasn't the case with this particular family. It's very sad to see entire families like this--especiallly children who are not being taught how to eat healthy, mostly because their parents don't know how to eat healthy in order to teach them. It's really not fair to kids to have to live like that...think of all the health problems they are going to have, along with the psychological scars of teasing. It's hard enough being a kid/teenager as it is!

Since I work at KFC, I see this ALL the time!! My kids get leftover chicken maybe once a month, even then it's a drumstick each.....I don't allow my kids to get fast food very often, yes yesturday I went to Mcdonalds and got them a milkshake, but it was a small that I split between the two.....

There's nothing wrong with giving your children treats, but moderation is the key. If we have icecream, it's one bowl and we share it. I know I may sound likea prude or whatever but I'll be damned if my kids grow up overweight...

We do have "unhealthy" meals that the kids love, Mac n cheese is one, but I do try to make it healthier, adding spinache and chicken breast to it...I'm just so happy my kids LOVE chicken and turkey, they could eat that all day if I let them....
