Why is Isreal attacking...airports???

redguru said:
The Iwo Jima is a Wasp class LHD. Helo carrier. You could put a whole platoon in a Sea Stallion. Not sure of the passenger capacity of an Osprey either.

250,000?

if they moved an LHD then they are planning on evac'ing only important people. 53's and 46's moving consistantly would take forever for a fraction of that number of people.

I haven't been watching the news lately, and just managed to get an update on what is happening.

It's worrying for the world as a whole to see this situation develop into what seems like a battle ready to break all out into all out war. Maybe, it is war as we speak, That depends on the semantics.

Yes, The palestinians and Hezbollah were wrong to abduct Israeli soldiers. In exchange they require release of prisoners. However, this has happened before and the end result after a long drawn exchange of firepower, Israel caved in.

I live in a multicultural area that has a nice mix of religions and races. I've got to know a lot of muslims. A lot of them do have a feeling of disgust and hatred for Israel. Not the jews of Israel necessarily. More the policies, its practices and indiscriminate killing of innocent palestinian civillians.

Funnily enough, I was watching the news today and i believe Benjamin Nethanyou said something along the lines of "they fired a rocket and killed 2 innocent civillians and this is terrorism.." Absolutely.

However, what about the thousands that have been killed over the years in Palestine as a result of Israel military action? Is that not state sponsored terrorism? Is an israeli life worth more than an arab?

This hypocrisy is what really irritates me and a lot of other people, muslims and non muslims alike about the Israeli government.

Palestine is a key issue for muslims all over the world, extremists and non extremists. Events that unfold before our eyes, serve the purpose of fanatics and enhance their recruiment process.

Maybe if there was peace in Palestine, we would not have had the rising tide of terrorism and fundamentalism. They work on the basis of oppression, suppression and indiscriminate murder of muslims in Palestine, Iraq etc.

I genuinely believe, and im sorry to say this, that there will never be peace in the middle east. I cannot see the Palestine issue being resolved, the roadmap to peace and existance of a 2 state solution. Consequently, the situation will escalate further in the future and as a result the rest of the world suffers.

War in Middle east is detrimental to Europe, and particularly USA. USA are staunch supporters of Israel, who attack palestine using US Supplied military equipment. What does this tell muslims? That USA are sanctioning this attack.

Terrorism will always exist or more accuratly fundamentalism and its doctrine will always live on due to the past, present and future legacy of decision making of USA, and its staucnh support of Israel.

So why don't we stop supporting them? Because it would make the Arabs feel better about us? Maybe one form of terrorism is less detrimental than another, both politically and financially. Once again, politics.

Somewhat dated but still relevant-

I'm willing to bet something like this would never make it to CNN.

I dunno , Hezbollah is also responsible for terrorist activity to the American embasy in Beruit. Many other attacks they have taken responsibility for. I'm not so sure it the talk about how evil Isreal is and how "loving and caring" Lebanese are is really accurate.

The fact that Hezbolla has killed Americans should have some impact on how the US sides in this issue

Your latter point maybe true. It's just that world seems to be descending into chaos on every corner.

I think if the USA policy was reversed, and Pro arab..you have to ask yourself..would we have this increasing rise of islamic fundamentalism? Would there be this hatred, distrust and disrepect towards American Administration, not only by muslims and non muslims alike.

The fact that we're the most powerful nation on earth and siding with they're sworn enemy might have something to do with it to. Of course they're not going to love us.
