why don't other countries like the greatest sport in the world? (football)

Brocephus, I'd love to see NFL players take off all that shit they wear to protect their delicate little heads and necks and hips and shoulders and go commando. Rugby players do that every game.

i love you but this arguement is kinda played out here.
all the gear that protects their delicate little heads and look at the injuries.
every year, for example, a handful of kids get paralyzed in the state of texas...there is a org for them.
just one state and high school atheletes are becoming permantely wheel chaired.
imagine the countrywide stats, even a few deaths every year.
and that's with the wimpy pads and hundreds of lbs less than college or nfl players.
having a nfl player not wear a helmet is like having a mlb slugger not to use a bat kinda a rediculous thing imo

I love football...played it in HS...but it ain't got shit on hockey. Violent collisions at higher speeds than football or rugby, sometimes involving stationary boards and plexiglass with very little give, a frozen rubber projectile that can move at up to 105mph, played on a surface as hard as concrete, plus fighting thrown in for good measure. Now THAT'S a sport!

Lacrosse is the fastest game on two feet. Hockey is great, just not the NHL product nowadays.

meh, i think the injury stats would clearly indicate the nfl is the most dangerous and violent professional sports.
hits are a little more wrecking when your feet are cleated and planted in ground

Wrong...I've seen more guys carried off the ice KOed than I've seen carried off the field.

Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:

Exhibit C:

The increased speed more than compensates for not being 'cleated'. An nhl hockey player with a head of steam travels at 27mph....an nfl football player at 17mph. That 10mph difference is HUGE when calculating the force of a collision.

canadian hitman how many deaths happen in high school hockey?
how many young bros paralyzed, happens every year in texas alone.
no comparison sorry bro :(

Unfortunately, plenty of paralysis resulting from spinal injuries...even earlier than high school sometimes. Mind you, it's usually from hits into the boards...as hockey players aren't delivering hits with their helmets.

Actually, protective gear leads to higher rates of traumatic injuries. Athletes "pull up" knowing that hitting someone full force will break their own bones or give them a concussion. The NFL has much higher rates of traumatic injuries as opposed to rugby because they have a false sense of security due to wearing pads.

This is a well established fact, boxing is much more dangerous than bare knuckle fighting. You punch someone full force and you break your hand, I have experienced this phenomena, but I can punch someone in the head as hard and fast as I can without fear of injury wearing a boxing glove.
