why does blood sugar go up while fasting?

Okay so this is really weird. When I am fasting I noticed sometimes my blood sugar goes up like over 120 even to 140+ especially around the 8 hour mark of fasting. I was under the impression that the blood sugar is always going to go down. can anyone explain the science of why this happens and if it is normal please.

I have studied why this happens for a while now and the science has an easy explanation

when you fast you are breaking down glycogen and production of new glucose due to the hormonal changes while fasting. so your body is moving sugar from glycogen/fat and pushing it into the blood where it burns it off. so your blood sugar will go up at some points during the process. i would be curious to hear from you what part of the day you see this specifically. i would assume it happens around the time your body is switching from glycogen to ketones but that is my speculation only

this is why fasting works great for permanent fat loss vs. crash dieting.
