Who here does unassisted chin-ups or pull-ups?

When you are looking to establish your first chin up or increase, just as with using a spotter to pound out that last rep so next time you can do one more on your own - I've always made my best progress in doing chin ups by having someone "spot" me by holding my feet. Each time you try, you end up doing a little less pushing against the person supporting your feet until the day you get the big ONE.

I think chin ups are awesome. I so love watching the lats on a guy pounding out a bunch of them. I've personally managed 1 1/2. I've used the assisted chin-up thing over the years, however for some reason I've made the biggest progress with a spotter over a couple of weeks.

I'm not feeling so bad now! I'm with daisy....lifting that wagon is hard work.....I can do about 4-5 unassisted..

I can do better with dips than chin ups or pull ups. I'll have to try today to see if I can do more than 1.

I find I can do them better if I really concentrate on using my lats instead of my arms to pull me up.

The other problem is is that I can't reach the bar so I have to move a bench over to stand on to climb up!! hehehehe

I agree with Sassy69. It is much easier to have someone spot you to help as you need it. When I first started, I couldn't even do one chin-up. My ex-boyfriend would "spot" me and only help when I absolutely couldn't go anymore. Now, I can do like 6 or seven (depending on the day!). Assisted chin-up machines are pretty good, too, (that's what I have to use now) but I liked having someone there instead.

My wife could do 12 wide grip pullups behind her neck in perfect form.

She did one armed dumbell rows with 90 lbs for 8-10 reps in perfect form. :)
