... There's a point though where you can no longer blame the parents. She's 16 now and totally responsible for her actions and should suffer the consequences.

I agree with the sitting her down and laying it on the line part. She sounds really pissed.....find out why...maybe she is blaming you for some of her problems...maybe you are to blame...maybe not. Obviously what she did is pretty damn horrible. Calling the cops on her though....that would be hard to forgive or forget as it would be if she turned you in. I'd lay down the law and stick to it. Sounds like a raw deal any way you slice it. Good luck.

This child was made by the system. If the system did not allow said child to manipulate BOTH PARENTS then chances are one of them would have laid the smack down on her ass that she needed looooooooooooooong ago.

It happens every single day to millions of families.

Now the system will have to sort her out.

I dont think beating her ass would do much good, maybe for you but she is just gonna get THAT much more pissed off. Of course she might settle down but from what she is doing I doubt it. Stupid as this might sound to everyone but trust me it works, when I was a little helliun I went through one of them scared straight programs. (not sure if they still do it anymore) but they put you in a room full of inmates who scream at you for a few hours and show you what kinda life your headed towards. Maybe that might wake her up?
