Doesn't sound too much different than what I said. Sounds like you're just trying to find the couple of fine points where we differ and argue just to make yourself sound/look good.
When I say 2-3 times your bodyweight in grams of protein, I guess I expect people to use a little common sense. Now I know (as evidenced by many responses in this thread) that common sense is in short supply these days, but if you're 200 lbs, and bulking, you should be eating at least 400 grams of protein IMO (with or especially without AAS). I know a guy who competes as a superheavy and consumes 700-800g protein/day while bulking. Different people have different nutritional needs.
Sure, a 20 yr old kid who is 6 ft. tall and 160 lbs who eats 200 grams protein and takes 500mg test a week can shoot up to 180-190 and say, "look at me, I only eat 200g protein/day and I gained 20 lbs and I'm ripped, and everyone should be just like me so therefore people don't need more than 200g protein/day." Flawed logic I'd expect from someone without much experience and knowledge about bodybuilding, nutrition and the human body. Not everyone is the same.
Stick boy swimmer Michael Phelps eats 12,000 calories a day when he's training for the Olympics. If only 25% of those calories are from protein, that's 750 grams of protein. Everyone here says that's impossible and that he would turn into a huge lard ass. Guess everyone here knows more than Michael Phelps and his trainer(s). you guys should all write to them and let Mr. Phelps know how badly he is fucking up his diet. Maybe he could've won 10 or 12 gold medals instead of only 8. What a chump. He should sign up at EF.
You dont need 400g to grow. You will get bigger but you will still grow off 200-250g that is my point. Im 5'9" 190 lbs 9% BF 21 y/o, how about you?
You realize how much more intense michael phelps training is? Anytime someone uses an extreme example to make their point loses their credibility.
Yes, it is a rather extreme example. But is it any less relevant? I even said only 25% of his diet was protein, and it still came out to 750g. What if someone only ate half as much as Phelps, but was more focused on protein because they wanted to build muscle? 6000 cals @ 40% protein = 600g protein.
Let's get something straight...YOU (the.gladiator1987) might not have needed 400g of protein to get to 190lbs. But, that doesn't mean everyone else is JUST LIKE YOU! You can't say that no one needs this or that based off your own experience. It IS flawed logic and it does show that you still have a lot to learn before you go offering advice. You can't say the same thing that works for a 190lb guy @ 10%bf with 2 years of training will work for a 250lb guy @ 10% bf with 15 years training. Portraying your knowledge of BBing, science and nutrition in your own "muscles" is one thing, but portraying it in the muscles of others is entirely different.
And, you might find that if you want to get heavier than 200lbs, you MIGHT need more than 200g protein to do it. But you'll probably opt to add another compound to your next cycle, or up the dose by another 500mg, or something that seems easier than eating more.
The only one losing credibility here is the one that thinks everyone else is just like him as far as their nutritional needs regardless of where they are in their experience and knowledge of training and nutrition.
its just a basic principle with the 2-3 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight, cuz i see alot of people posting saying they arent gaining any size or mass and they are only consuming 1 times their bodyweight, so upping their protein to 2x their bodyweight would definitely give gains. if youre not gaining mass anymore, what would you do? up your protein or up your aas dose? aas uses up protein more efficently. for example, if you're running 1 gram of test a week and only consuming 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight, i would say you are wasting your aas. i went from 130 pounds @ 7% bodyfat after a cutting diet, and got up to 173 by eating 5500-6500 clean calories a day as in all brown rice, whole wheat pastas and bread. imagine a 130 pound guy eating that many calories a day and not gaining? im now down to 168-170 @9-10% (dieting down).
this is the fucking awesomest thread i have ever read!!!!! lol you gott love EF you bros are the shit lets all agree on that!
