True, you never know for sure they have stopped or what other drugs they are using. They can very easily restart also.

My friend ended up committing himself to rehab, which was a good 1st step.

I haven't spoken to him in over a year so I don't know his current status.

I did some research on oxy's and everywhere I looked it said it was impossible to quit without medical intervention. So I know he's basically lying to everyone.

Based on my experience, I fully agree with this assessment...

I feel your pain, feisty.

My sister is an addict, and thankfully she's on the path to recovery. Thinks looked bleak for a while, though, and I have been looking after her six year old son for the last year. At her worst there was nothing we could have done to get through to her. The only thing I could do was make sure Connor was safe.

I don't share HT's bleakness, but I do share the overall sentiment. Do what you can to minimize the collateral damage, but don't do anything under the guise that you are "helping" the addict. The only one who can do that is themselves.

A guy I was friends with that I've actually started talking to again realized he couldn't quit oxy's on his own and had an implant put in his shoulder to keep him away from opiates. He was taking up to 20 oxy 80's per day. He went out to Jersey to see the doc that invented the implant, detoxed, and had it installed. He's been clean since, but it's a struggle for him. I guess if he uses again the implant will make his extremely sick and could even kill him.

MY cousin claimes he "weaned" hiself off the oxy's with xanax and vicodin. But stll looks like he's fucked up everytime I see him.

Sounds like my brother .He claims that he is on soboxen(sp) now for his heroin issues. However, he is always driving out to the other city every week claims he needs to go buy his meds, not to mention he is never where he says he will be, he doesn't look too messed up most off the time, but still.You never can know for 100% sure and it sucks!

out of my sisters 7 kids, 2 of them are heavy drug users and dealers. My sister sits with them and does the drugs. They are all at fault here.

my godchild, who is 18 now, is really bad off on drugs. My sister, who never calls me, just called crying. Telling me she does not know what to do. I feel like someone needs to do something before he ends up dead. I am thinking about calling the police and narc him out. Just so he can get some help. There is no one who could bond him out so he'd have to do time. fuck...I feel like I have to do something. He's gonna end up dead.
