(I posted about this before, but I cannot find my thread, so here goes, sorry if you already responded, I missed it)

How come no one or almost no one uses weightlifting shoes like the olympic lifters use? I mean, that is the one pice of equipment that every last olympic lifter on the planet uses. I couldnt imagine squatting or deadlifting without them myself. Do people just dont know about them, are they hard to find, is it because they look sort of goofy? I find them unparallelled for stability and support for squats, deads and overhead lifts. Any ideas why i never see anyone ever wearing them even in pics of Elite ppl lifting?

I use basketball high tops for squats and wrestling shoes for deads in a contest. When I do deads at the gym I go barefoot, the lower the sole of the shoe the less distance the bar has to travel meaning more weight

Most lifters wear wrestling shoes for deadlift. There's a tiny sole separating your foot from the floor. You can't explain to a nonpowerlifter how being 1/2" closer to the floor can make or break a max attempt. And for squat, there are shoes made specifically for squatting. Many companies, including Inzer and TITAN :D , offer them.

damn I better stop using my nike airs for both !!
the sole is thick on them, like *checks* like inch n half ..hmm

I guess id better use my old flat sole bum shoes

i like wrestling shoes, they have a thin sole so you don't wobble, and they give you good ankle support.

I always squatted and deadlifted barefoot because I am very flatfooted. Any recommendations on what shoes to buy to give better stability?

Heres the shoes I use, there are none better. Snekaers may be comfortable but they are not stable. I agree that thin soled sneakers such as wrestling shoes are better than fat soled ones, and air nikes are the worst by far, the bubble makes them extremely wobbly, and besides youll ruin them because those bubbles will pop if you lift heavy in the. Nothing sadder than a wheezing, deflated pair of air nikes!
