What kind of foods are best to pig out on

pigging out once a day would be just putting on too much fat again

pigging out once a week (one or two meals) would be a good idea. It would boost your metabolism and rejuvenate your brain.

So work harder and pig out no more than once a week.

This is may appear to be a stupid question...

Aren't most fruits high on the glycemic index? Are there any fruits lower in GI Would bananan's be good for a 'pig out'?

I have a clean feed once a week & am thinking about 1 or 2 banana's & smashin' them one nite (insert this friday nte)

Most fruits are low or medium GI as the sugar is mainly fructose. The main reason to moderate fruit is that fructose is preferentially stored in the liver, although I have read views that it can then be converted into muscle glycogen.

This chart gives the amount of fructose (or fructose equivalent if sucrose is present) of fruit: Fruits and Sugars Table.

Note, per 100 grams, most fruit isn't really that high.

E.g., suppose your starving, craving something sweet, and have a bowl of fruit salad consisting of 150grams of each of the following: medium orange, apple, banana, kiwi fruit, strawberries.

This is a shit load of fruit, but in the end adds up to 420 cals (106C, of which 19 is fibre and 68 is sugar, probably about 50-60% of it being fructose or fructose equivalent).

In a time of calorie deprivation, if you were dieting for a week and cheated on this much fruit, it is unlikely given glycogen depletion that u would gain any fat.

hey! thanks for that! I have no idea how you got 106g of carbohydrates (is that right) from that table. I tried multiplying all the total sugars by 1.5 & then added the collective total together, but didn't even come close.

But, still...I will embark on fruit salad this friday nite! I've been craving blueberries all week!

I also found the following list on About.com

I used cron-o-meter to get my carb figure.

That table only includes fruit sugars. In fact, most fruit contain some starch and fibre, which are both in the carb count. Subtract fibre from carbs for net carbs.

E.g., a banana per 100 grams is 22g C, of which 2.6 is fibre and 12.2 is sugar. The banana is perhaps the best PWO fruit given its relatively low fructose %
