I heard that when the AIDS epidemic first hit, there was talk at GM about the possibility of stopping production of the Corvette, and at Ford stopping production of the T-Bird, because they feared their markets would die off. Maybe someone should do a count of cars parked at gay bars (of course that would be a sample only of those who frequent gay bars), rather than the majority who do not. Back in the '70s and '80s, there was so much vandalism of cars near gay bars, particularly bashed headlights, that cars with retractable headlights was and still is highly associated with gays.
Frankly, I don't give a damn who drives what, as long as they meet my criteria of patriotic motoring by buying a car that is (1) Made with American labor so the wages get spent here, (2) Made by an American-owned company so the profits get reinvested or otherwise spent here, and (3) is made with USA made parts as much as possible so that money stays in the country as well. To me, sporting an American flag on a Toyota or a Honda is worse than flag burning.
Why the obsessive curiosity on this board as to what gays do or buy? It reminds me back in the '60s of the obsession with what blacks do or don't do. On the other had, I have this curiosity as to why only women buy those little Hondas with the lawnmower engines (and apparently don't come with turn signals) that lets the car go 80 downhill but only 20 uphill, and take 60 seconds to get up to 30 MPH after the light turns green?
