What is the real rep range for size/mass?

hey so if its "Time under tension is the thing for size"
couldnt you just hold a heavy weight up for a long period of time... cos it would always be under tension
just a thought??

I am not a bodybuilder, but I used to think I was, so I know just enough about hypertrophy to be dangerous. Static Contraction training, brought to you by the same people as brought you PowerFactor training, would involve static holds of very heavy weight just short of lockout. It has been years since I tried this debacle, but I think I recal the hold times being much shorter than those listed in the excellent post above by Vortexx.

I got a lot of pain in my joints, a lot of funny looks by others in the gym, and not much else out of Static Contraction Training. If you are concerned with hypertrophy, read and re-read the post by Vortexx. If you want to get stronger, go to the powerlifting board and find out what strength athletes do to get stronger.
