What is the NO 1 tip you could give someone regarding diet?

If you don't eat it, you don't have to do hours of cardio to burn it off....

Diet is, what?, 80% of the game.....90%? Basically, you can do all the exercise in the world, but if your diet isn't "on" then you won't get to where you want....

If you are new to "dieting" than the best thing I could suggest is writing down everything that goes in your mouth for a week. This helped me tremendously and I would bet alot of people under/over estimate how much or little they eat!

Make sure to eat enough! One of the main reasons diets fail is that people practically starve themselves. The body is very smart - if it is faced with malnutrition, it will react by switching to "low flame" mode. That means a slowed metabolism, a stubborn retention of fat, and the propensity to get rid of what costs the most energy to maintain: muscle!

DITTO. I'm still paying for this one.

I big as a resource like this is, I believe more people should be posting. Come on guys. With so many views and so few posts, this thread is flatlined.

Well, what works for one person may not work for another....

Plus, a lot of people, IMO, don't have the patience to stay the course, give it time & try a few different things before giving up.....

I still can't "eyeball" my portions -- I still have to use fitday....great resource & it's FREE

I just got fitday seems hard to use though thanx for the resource K to you.

It can be a PITA at first.... I have a TON of custom foods loaded, cuz fitday can be "off" from the label IMO. Once you get used to it, it gets easier.

calories in vs. calories out = HUGE

protein = the money shot

protein/carb & protein/fat combinations only (its ok to mix but I'd rather be safe)

meals eaten maximum 3 hours apart, 2 hours optimal (minimum 5 meals/day)

protein protein protein - carbs are useless when cutting, fat must be EFAs from fish oil (for quality omega 3) and flax oil (for omega 3 quantity)

weight training - very very important - prevents you from looking like a marathon runner and keeps your metabolism jolted

did i mention increased protein intake?
