What is the NO 1 tip you could give someone regarding diet?

5-6 smaller meals each day of good clean food. If you have to have a 'bad' snack (we all do once in a while), make it a 'better bad' choice - instead of regular potato chips, try baked. Basically diet is about 75% of it (give or take). You can lift/cardio like crazy; BUT no correct diet, no correct body.
Proteins - chicken, fish - lean red meat (gotta have a steak once in a while)
Good carbs
Low sugar and fat - with the exception of good fats - fish oils, flax seed oil.
Basically if you eat 5-6 small meals a day, higher in protein, with veggies and fruit, you'll do well.

- 3 things are a MUST for every cutting program: Diet, Wieight Training and Cardio. If you try to go with only 2 or 1 of the 3, you will fail in your goals (despite the short term weight loss you can see)

- Monitor BF%, not Body Weight

- Forget about BMI calculations. Totally worthless

Stay away from anything that wasn't killed, milked, or grown in a field re: food source. With the exception of brown rice, legumes, and good oils (canola/olive) - shop on the outer rims of the supermarket (dairy, meat, seafood, veggies, and if you can have it, fruit).

You took the words right out of my mouth. LOL I was going to put the same thing. That and the "If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is" concept.

find out how many calories you need to be taking in... i would suggest bodyweight x 10-12....then divide that by 2. eat 2 meals per day vs 4-7 or whatever else people are telling you to eat. i have yet to see conclusive data suggesting more frequent meals are better for weight loss.... only negative for large meals is that they can cause a greater insulin response when compared to smaller meals.

so, bodyweight x 10-12 and then divide by 2? all this in 2 meals???

let's see: I am 206 lbs... that would be 206 x 10 = 2060 ~ 2472... avg is 2266... half that is 1133 cals...

divided by two, your advice for a guy like me is to eat 2 meals of 550 cals and that would be it...

Never mind my BMR is 1900 cals and my TDEE is roughly 3000 cals... Going into strvation, sure is a great diet for all of the 2 weeks it will take your body to figure out what you are doing and hold on to everything you eat.

Dude, sorry, you couldn't be more wrong if you tried harder. This is NO advice to give here.

Careful what you type, there is people here who know very little and you could be harming people by giving this advice.

as for proof, if you haven't seen reports on small meals increasing metabolism, well, you haven't looked for them.

Actually, I have a question about this. Sometimes I go to the gym and do cardio, and sometimes I lift, and sometimes I do both. Sometimes I run in the morning and then lift in the evening.

What are the guidelines for the PWO shake? When should I be having one?
