What do you think of this???

She probably either could not afford it or there may have been a law that her parents had to sign to allow the abortion.

I think those charges are pretty trumped up when she did it within the time frame in which abortion is legal in her state anyway. I think the charges will be very much reduced upon plea bargaining.

On a side note, 24 weeks? Damn that is LATE to allow an abortion. I never really looked much into abortion laws but always assumed that you could only do it up to 12 weeks or so. By 24 weeks, you are well into feeling the baby move and showing and everything. That is probably too late. By that time, the baby probably has developed enough of a central nervous system that it feels pain, etc. Just seems wrong to me. I certainly am not one of those pro-lifers. I just think maybe they should push that back to about 12 weeks or so.
Are you shitting me? Out in Lawrence she could go to a clinic and get it done and over with for little money...She was on her own, did not need parents advice.Living on her own and everything, not into drugs, nothing! Even her own family was in shock over it, they never would have thought she would do some thing like that.
And yes it is 24 weeks for the abortion deadline and I soooo agree with you..I could feel my daughter well before 24 weeks. I think 12 weeks is plenty enough time to find out that you are pregnant and decide what to do.
I am not all for abortion. However I will say this- They did not even know how far along she was! How the hell can they charge her????!!!!! What if she were only 23 weeks, would it be different?

Like I said above, it sounds like they want a case to take up the ladder to the supreme court. You can't get cases overturned unless you have an actual case to use. Courts won't discuss hypotheticals. So, they just found the perfect case to try to make a name for themselves and that would fit their political agenda. Maybe I'm jaded, but I've seen this some.
