What do I need to do to cook beans?

Too much sodium in canned beans which I live off of. If I just wanted to buy the beans raw what do I need to do to cook them?

northern beans, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, etc.

easy and fast cooking

Soak them overnight, pour off the water the next day and boil for about 2 hours in new water till soft....

Or rinse the canned beans to wash off the sodium-laden juice.....won't get it all, but it'll help....
