Wanting to quit drugs and lift again, please help.......

f**k bro, I am sorry to hear about your situation. You have already admitted you have a problem - that good - most people never even make it that far. I don't know anything about coming off of h. You will definently need to get some help and support. I have friends with severe drinking problems and cocaine. The key to their recovery was self motivation, professional help and support, and occupying their free time. The 3rd part( occupying your free time) is the most critical. Most people start using because of boardom. If you are not bored you won't think about using. Get back to the gym, start a new hobby and get some help. Good luck with your recovery.

From me to you

You have admitted the problem. That is the first step. You need to seek out a solid support system to help you through this time. Whether it be friends or family or maybe both. You do need to have someone there for you. To talk to you and most importantly, listen to you. N/A meetings happen every night of the week in local houses of worship. Seek them out, there free, and there are people there for you. Remember that it is your life and only you can take the steps to change it. An ear is more than you may think. I have never known anyone to do it alone.
Addictions of any kind are serious and take huge tolls on the soul. They can drain our bodies but they can not take our minds. You are strong for taking the first steps into this. you will succeed as long as you remain consistent. It will be difficult and at times seem impossible. Hang in there.

After my career as an athlete I worked as a counselor in a mentally ill chemically addicted residential center. I have seen this situation before, assuming all information is correct. Keep a daily log of all your activities and dosages. Make sure you document everything, even the way you feel. What triggers you to want to use as well as what triggers you to not want to use. Keep those factors with you all the time, 24/7/365. Do not forget why you are doing what your doing. Be consistent. My heart is with you brother. Win the battle and the world is yours.

Man, I've really went downhill guys. I was doing so well in the gym, trained hard for three years. Started when I was 19 and went from 175 to 215 and pretty ripped(I'm 5'10") for the last 3 years. The last few months I've went so far downhill I can't believe it. I started injecting Oxycontins. I've messed w/ them the past couple years on occasion but this time I got hooked. Then I started messing with Heroin. Heroin is much cheaper so I kinda switched to Heroin and have been injecting it 1-2 times a day for the past couple months. I feel like shit everyday until I get my fix. I've with from 215 to about 185 quick. I feel shitty about myself, I lost my gym membership and havent lifted in months. I'm not sure why I'm posting this, I guess I'm just looking for some support and encouragement to help me get off this shit and back into the gym.Has anyone else ever been here? If so can you give me some advice on getting off this and back into the gym. Should I just slowly ween myself off the "H" or should I try to get Methadone. I don't wanna get professional help, I wanna try to quit myself. Any encouragement right now will really be appreciated guys. Thanks for listening and hopefully one day I'll be back on here with an update telling you how I straightened out and am back in the gym growing again.

Okay, well I know a little bit about this subject because I come from a family of drug addicts and alcoholics. What you need to do is go to NA and/or AA. If you are serious about this the 12 steps can help you kick you habit. My friend did not seek professional help and he was smoking and shooting “H” for a number of years. You can get all the professional help you want but if you do not want to quit nothing is going to help you. Robert Downey Jr. is a perfect example of that, Scott Wyland is another. Rehabs and sober living facilities do help but again it is something that you must want to do. You can do this without methadone and without paying bundles of cash, just get your ass to NA. Here in LA most people do both NA and AA sorry to tell you this but you will probably have to quit drinking too, because the bottle always leads back to the syringe in my opinion and I have many examples of this so I am not going to debate it. Good luck bro.

I'm a former alcoholic. I know people say once you are, you always are. But I believe there are various degrees to the disease and addiction. A year ago this past july, I checked into rehab, not by choice but because I landed in the ER after passing out from just dehydrating myself so much because of alcohol. I spent 9 days in rehab, went through hell from withdrawal for a few days, but i'm fine now. I was drinking for 6 months, about a fifth a day of vodka. I did some outpatient counseling after, but realized I could beat this thing myself without AA. It just wasn't for me. Now I can actually drink moderatly because I know I was depressed and shyed away from people when I was drinking before. The one thing I make sure I try not to do is drink by myself. And everyone is right when they say don't worry about the muscle, I didn't workout for 6 months, and once I started working out again it only took a few weeks and it was all back. I would say get some friends that will support you in quitting and you can do it on your own. Go to a methadone clinic if you need it. But all the professional help in the world can't help unless YOU want to quit and get back on track. Any help or questions you need just email, I've been to hell and back from addiction so I know. Good luck!

Stay strong bro. I sort of got hooked on pain killers a while back, but not as bad as you it sounds. I'd say get professional help bro. H is not an easy drug to get off of, don't know from first hand experience. I just found out about a week ago that a kid I was really good friends with in grammar school died the other week by overdose on oxycotin's. Get off that shit bro. Don't ween off, it will never happen. There was a good thread a while back that detailed how to get off oxycontin. Do a search for oxycontin addiction. The first week or two will be the hardest bro. One thing *I* found helped me get off the pain killers was pot, sure it isn't great for you either, but I found it helped.
