That is exactly why I have been hesitant to get a bike. Too many temptations.

If you want one, get a Harley or Yamaharley (type), and just cruise.

Even then you can still die, but at least you reduce your chances by not doing wheelies at 100 mph, and weaving in and out of cars on a crowded freeway at 150.

Agreed. Harleys are safer and sek-c.

LMAO...how so?

I would say safer also... Cause people who ride harley's are not poppin wheelies at 150 in traffic or passing people on double yellow roads with oncoming traffic.

Safer bc it's slower, you won't be doing wheelies (spelling?) at high speeds, it's a classical bike, so you chill when you're riding it and dnt necessarily use it for speed...

Sek-c because it's a frickin harley bro!!! It's the hottest bike ever!

This is simply due to the fact they can't. These bikes handle like shit in comparison to any sportbike. Quite honestly the new sportbikes would obviously be 'safer' due to the far superior handling/tech. It's the riders that give these bikes, the 'unsafe' label, due to their not knowing their personal limits, and obviously fucking up while speeding and stunting, which of course is far less common among harley riders, as the general pop of them are older, and their bikes are simply not made for the same shit. Any properly trained or professional rider (not just some internet know it all) would blatantly feel safer/more in control on a sportbike, rather than a cruiser. It all comes down to personal preference. Unfortunately most of the new young inexperienced riders and their stupidity are giving us experienced sportbikers a bad rap with the media, and in general.

lol @blaming the sportbike.

It's the rider... ride within your limits and dont lane split at 150 and you will be fine.

I would say this guy demonstrated he was riding within his limits...BUT, what's to stop someone from suddenly changing lanes while he's slipping by them? Would he be quick enough to avoid being hit? Maybe. Does he increase his risk of crashing/being hurt, etc. by doing these stunts and high speed shenanigans? Yes, he does. Even if it is within his limits...because you never know what someone else is going to do, and it's a lot harder to avoid hitting someone who pulls out in front of you when you're going 150 vs. 50.

It's not the bike necessarily, you're right. If you have a sportbike and ride it in a chill manner, you're decreasing the factors that could contribute to an accident. Conversely, if you have a cruiser and ride in an outrageous manner, you're increasing the factors that could contribute to an accident.

Now, having said that...I've ridden both sportbikes and cruisers, and I have to say that being on a bike you know can go 170mph and handles like a dream merely makes me want to experience the adrenaline that comes with pushing the bike's (and my) limits. Being on the cruiser however, puts me in a different mood. It's laid back, chill, just havin a good time cruisin maing!
