Ok, for close grip bench, how far do you guyz space your hands, or what markers on the bar do you ues? And do you press the weight over your stomach or chest? I go over my chest.

On reverse grip bench the same, how far do you space your hands and over your chest or stomach. For these I press the weight over my stomach.

Curious to see if I do em like you all do and just what the general consensus is.

CGBP I put my index finger on the smooth. So maybe a 10" wide grip. I touch higher on my chest.

I've only done reverse grip bench on the smith and I actually use a wide grip.

Are you doing weighted dips?

Weighted dips > All tricep exercises imo

I agree with this. That is where I put my tri's and I touch a little higher on my chest than a usual benchpress, by doing this my elbows close more giving more range of motion to my tri's

obviously I could space my hands a little wider and touch lower in order to use more poundage and it would still be considered a CGBP but there is no point...

And yes I have found weighted dips to be the best tricep exercise and also great for chest and shoulder size too.

I am using the same grip southern lord talks about. Never done reverse grip bench press, but I love cgbp (way better than dips :lmao:)

Close grip bench is not a tricep exercise...it is a shoulder rotation exercise. Board Presses are much more triceps than close grip bench. The last MANY inches are often only the shoulders rotating, has nothing to do with the triceps.

Try 2 and 3 board presses for a while with the grip that fries your triceps the most.

The best lifts I have done for tris are:
1) weighted/unweighted dips!!! (seems to pump upper tris)
2) skull crushers with dumbells!!! (pumps lower tris and makes your arms look like cannons)
3) bench dips w/ weight stacked on your legs!
4) Overhead leaning forward tricep extentions on cable machine

If you are doing bench press, dips and overhead presses then I see little need to do extra tricep work. Only exception would be if you are a powerlifter trying to maximise bench.

WOW! great answers bros! Yeah I love dips too for tri but my shoulders wont let me do them anymore, it sucks to get old and beat up...
Thanks for the advice on the board presses will work that one out.
Thanks again all!
