Thought I was gonna get Laid off today

I got an appointment request from my boss yesterday to meet with him and our VP in his office today at 9am. We never have meetings with just the 3 of us so I knew something was up.

I was sort of dreading it this a.m. and was thinking on the way in that this could be it. So I get to his office and my boss is in there and I knew he was uncomfortable. The 3 of us get into the conversation about my resume being on Monster. I have had it public since I started here almost 3 years ago and they asked about it about 6 months ago becuase our HR found it on the site.

At that time they both were totally understanding of it since cuts were being made and didn't make a big deal about it. I just left it out there and never even thought twice about it. I also was never really actively looking either.

Apparently some head hunter went out and found my resume, then submitted it to my former boss (VP) in another group. Can you imagine that? You'd think the assplant would figure out that I work at the company he is submitting to.

Long story short they told me they didn't want to lose me and if I wanted to interview with them I could. I also got a chance to let them know that my money situation is tight with the divorce and not that I was looking, but if I would be that would be the reason. They agreed to look into that for me.

Talk about emotional swings this am. I was pretty scared....

Bro no doubt. I was making plans in my head on the way in with what the hell I was gonna do. The good news is that I was a little afraid that they weren't liking the job I have been doing. They were gushing about how good they feel I have been doing. Then to get to have the compensation conversation and them being receptive to it was a huge bonous. That is my single biggest concern at this time with getting the house done and being strapped for cash.

And STFU JH1 I know I know I did it to myself.

Damn dude, glad to hear you didn't get waxed. I almost got laid off once in 2001...scared the shit out of me. Not that I couldn't have landed a job the following week, but just the fact that I would have had to walk into a place where no one knows me. Scary.

Only thing is, there is a bit of a precident set now.

LOL I knew that feeling.... but then, I DID get laid off and 5 months pregnant at that!
