Those who Train....HOW DO YOU ASK FOR PAYMENT?

Well I'm a private trainer and I'm about to meet my first client next week. He wants a 1 hr session once per week only. I was just wondering, how do you take the money from them? How do you go about asking them for the fees? Do you have them sign a contract? Do you have them pay up weekly? Has a client ever paid you late?

lol before your first session, you go over your fees and make it clear that they understand, i would write out a contract with dates of when the fees are due

bro, these are things you should know before coming a trainer lol

you should write out a contract, or have certain "plans", i.e. session packages. you need to take control of your business. whoever you got certified through usually has these prewritten contracts you can alter.

usually during the initial consult you go over your prices. once they give the green light, you take their credit card depending on how you want to break up the sessions.

training is a business. you got a lot of work to do

After the session you say that will be x number of dollars. Pay up or I will kick your ass BISH. Unless its a fine ass hawty, in which case it could be cash or trade.

[SARCASM] Just train them and then hope they send you a check. We're all good people. No need to worry about people stiffing you. [\SARCASM]

get the payment before you train them. they are paying for your time as well as your ability. thats why you are charging by the hour. so since everyone knows how long an hour is, get all your payments up front and then train them for an hour. make it a strict policy, pay before sessions.

Is it imperative to have liability insurance too? It IS right especially if you're having them sign a contract, etc

ABC you bitch ass!!

Always be closing..

god you're business is not going to take off, if you can't close!!!

just ask for the damn money!

i'm not really a good salesperson

then forget about personal training. your business will come more from your sales/personality than it will come from your knowledge of personal training. most of the people who want PT really need a personal cheerleader and motivator, not someone who can tell them how to figure out the BMI or any of that boring crap.

load up a client with 405 on the squat bar, kick him in the nuts...you'll find out soon enough.

Inflate your price and offer him a big discount for pre-paid sessions, at least half a dozen, people love discounts.

FYI, for the future.

yea and when he shows up for only the first half of them you get even more cash in your pocket for no work.

Close them on urgency..

this deal is only available until the end of april.. or the end of the week..

or I'm just doing this for you today.. etc etc etc..

make them feel like they are getting something special that they wouldn't be getting otherwise.. one free session.. or 10-20% off.. etc etc!

Mexicans always think they have all tha answers. Someone bomb this bean-eater before he gets outta hand.

mexicans are in canada?
can i come too?
i heard you guys got all the androgens and cannabis i want

don't knock beans, man..
theyre low-glycemic,
cheap
and have a decent amino-acid profile.

I'm curious. How do you know this person is your CLIENT? I mean he/she has no clue what this will cost them or what you will do for them.
