Those of you that made the bb to pl'er bench conversion

I read spatts post about leg drive, and I think Im doing it right (not really sure), but when I *think* Im leg driving I may be bringing my ass off the bench. I imagine there wouldnt be any way someone could look at my form and see if I am using leg drive or not?? I had a buddy of mine (Ruspa) spot and watch me last night in the gym to make sure I stayed tucked, but that is kinda easy to look for. Any tell-tale signs that would indicate I am using my whole body Hannibal? Or is it really just something you "feel?"
 
Well its really hard to tell. And hard to diagnose in text. However you should be driving yourself back, so your ass shouldnt be coming up. If it is...you are pushing your feet down instead. If that makes sense.

Try to think of moving the whole bench back when you drive with your legs. You probably wont accomplish it, but it is something to help you visualize.

The way I like to explain it is like a lineman in football. Firing off the ball. Using his legs to generate force...and then transfering that force into the opposing player through your arms.

actually the PL bench is supposed to reduce the ROM
 
Skaman: Yeah you are right it is supposed to when benching index on the ring. However, I cant seem to stay tucked with that wide of a grip, so I had to bring my grip in. Im actually going to go back to index on the ring and try harder at staying tucked. I was just saying that my personal switch to a pl'er type of bench has resulted in a larger ROM for me from making that grip switch. But from all I have read over at WSB website, and questions I have asked there in the past, they all bench index on ring in a competition so obviously that grip and staying tucked can be accomplished at the same time.

I like that description best so far. Helps me visualize the leg drive really well. Thanks.

I agree with Joker, that is a good description, cause I think I was just pushing my feet down which raised my butt up and gave me a false sense of leg drive. :confused:
