In Italy and Spain they have siestas daily!

Europeans work hard...they are not lax or lazy! They get a lot of vacation time and get paid well which American's would exploit if they had the same thing.
The work ethics are much different in Europe.

My husband wont let me buy anything BUT american.

I used to travel alot when I was younger but now somehow have developed an extreme extreme phobia of flying and just about everything else ; so I dont go too far anymore.

I work in a HUGE Corporation (30.000+ employees) in Frankfurt.

There are no siestas or 4 hour lunch breaks here, or in ANY of our customers/partners.

If anything, what you saw was a policy of a particular Corporation/Country ORganization/Department or individuals.

It's not common place at all.

as for Spain and Italy making siestas everyday... again wrong, in Spain, siestas will be taken on WEEKENDS... during the week, people work.

What they indeed do is take long lunch breaks, some 2 hours... then they work until 9:00 pm

A thing that is true indeed, just to add some real info to the thread, is that Italy will come to a complete stillstand during the entire month of August (pretty much like Germany as well). MOst of the people will take the entire month off... bakery shops, restaurants, businesses of all classes... everything is closed... even hotels.

Ya take her advice, divorce him (it is the respectable thing to do) move to Europe (where they work so hard and make so much money) and drive around in a Japanese car(because they are so much better that the rest of the worlds cars). I'm sure life will be just grand then!
