What I mean by "let" means that it will be a huge argument. It's not worth arguing over so I buy American cars. Besides. He makes most the money and he works the hardest out of the two of us; so I let him decide what kind of cars we buy. He also is a Union worker and if were to ever drive my non-american car to work........... who knows what would happen to it.

You know ; I did not always have such a fear of flying! But now ; Its really bad. I'm not sure why?!?! It sucks because I want to go back to Sanibel Island and I dont have enough vacation time to drive down there and drive back.

Here too..I used to fly then bang, got all freaked about it! Hate being closed in. I'm not afraid to crash but to be not in control in a closed in enviroment.

There isn't really much that I would like to see in Europe with the exception of the mediterannean countries and that's mainly for the scenery. I'm not really into seeing what man has accomplished. I'd rather go back to Africa and see the wildlife, beautiful landscapes, etc ie: stuff not yet spoiled by man

PS to answer your question, we only met one other family during the entire time in Africa so I think it really has to do with not having the time or the financial wherewithall to properly save for a vacation. Instead they buy the nicest material items thinking this will fulfill them when to me, living life is about seeing life

Recently came back from a stint in the islands. Any amount of young Brits, Euros, Japs, Koreans, Aussies, New Zealanders, Israelis etc all travelling the globe, but barely a Yank in sight?

Anyway, we know that most Americans seldom go abroad for anything other than short vacations, business trips or to slaughter humans in foreign lands.

Is that because they're not interested in experiencing or learning about the rest of the world? Is it that Americans believe traveling abroad isn't safe? Is it that everyone is so tied up in their lives to escape for an extended period?

Why do you think that is?

I think most people don't have the money or the time. Alot people watch the travel channel and often say I would love to go there. I hate flying and I'm sure alot of people do too.

I know the well off do alot of traveling.

I've traveled but I generally don't take more than 3-4 day vacations( long weekends). Kind of hard to see anything worthwhile in two days since the day you arrive is a wash and the day you leave is usually a wash.
