Thinking Of Shaving My Melon!

Have any of you guys taken this plunge?

I don't mean just buzzing it with no guard on the clippers, but actual "chrome dome" taking it down with the razor after the clippers have done their job.

That's not really the issue. I had id shaved in Basic Training so I know it's not all weird and bumpy or anything like that. I keep it pretty short as it is but going to to the skin is a big decision! If i don't like it, it's a long time until it grows back! :worried:

I did it last week, I kept doing the same thing. I'd get up in the morning go to do and chicken out. Finally I took a vacation last week so that Friday when I got home I broke out the clippers and just ran it straight down the middle of my head so there was no backing out, then broke out the bic and finished it off. Got done and it looked great, I let it grow back a bit because I'm lazy. The only problem I had was my head got so sun burn from driving in a convertable.

Advice..

Tan it first with a few weeks with a #1 clipper cut or get some tan in a can..

That pale white recently shaved head look is way over rated with the ladies.

yep...did it for a stage production a couple of years ago...


I actually shaved the cventer portion to make it look alike I was balding...and left the sides and back.

Walked around for 2 weeks like that to get sun on the top of my head.

Shaved it clean after the show and kept it that way for a while...

You should have let that one strip grown and then you could have done the 'wrap' around.

I do it every few months. I get bored with my hair, I shave/buzz it. I get bored of being bald, I grow it. Rinse and repeat. I'm in the process of growing it again right now. Last buzzed it with a #3 two weeks a go so it's still pretty short, currently in the too short to comb, but not short enough to look neat phase.

Yeah. I was doing that and it decided not to come back where I wanted it to. So I killed it.

I am going to shave mine whenever I go bald(er).

I just hope I'm one of those dudes that look good with a shaved head

but with a face like mine, how could I possibly not look good!!?:confused:

Yeah but yours is just coming in a little clearish-grey at the temples. Mine's clearish-invisible-gone on top. If I grow it out, I have a toilet seat hairline.
 
I did it a couple of years ago. It is kind of sensitive and feels strange at first, but was interesting.

Give it a shot. You will look normal again in about 6 weeks anyway.

Yep. Buzz it down as close as it will go. Get in the shower, wash it with soap, use shaving cream, and have at it. The Mach 3 with that buzz razor works best for me. You won't believe how many girls come up just to touch your head. Tell them you shave your boys too.
 
I've been shaving for a few years now. But for sure, buzz it and tan for a couple days. Then just use the mach 3. DO NOT USE disposables or the other triple blade, only the mach 3 is any good....and for goodness sake dont use the mach 3 power!!!
 
**UPDATE**

OK, this morning I took the first step. Buzzed it with a #3on top and a #1 on the sides and back. I'll tan it for a few days, let myself get used to the look and then take the top doen to a #1. Give it a few more days of tanning and then it's skin time.

So far, good response on the look from friends. We'll see what my kids think tomorrow.

Shadow, did you use the plain Mach 3 on top or did you use the M3 Power?
 
i dont like shaved heads...one part about military life that sucked he would shave his head...i like shaved but not too short

I'm just really tired of it right now. Plus, for some odd reason, over this past year, it started growing in ways that made it impossible to do anything with it except spike it up or leave it alone. I figure maybe if I shave it off, I can start from scratch again.
