The problem with the death penalty

True or not, it sickens me. The thing I'm against most is rape. Some people are so fucking twisted. And my mom always said I had no reason to hate this world when I was younger. -_-

Shouldn't even let people off with the death penalty. Lock them in a fucking "room, maybe 4'x4'. Let them curl up in there, in a strait jacket. Keep them alive. Have the tiny box padded up. Have a speaker just 24/7 torment them with screams of rape victims, and let the guilt rack up in them. Remidn them all the rest of their lives, every second, what they did.

I hate people that can bring themselves to do something so sadistic.

Dude! They only recently did this, as the confessions gave them the death penalty, however lawyers kept battling over & over about how flawed the investigation was, loopholes,etc!
The DNA evidence finally convicted them without a doubt!

It is VERY easy to get emotional with things like this, but it is NEVER that simple.

There is always more to it than that, and an infinate number of possiblities for evidence tampering. Some gangs understand enough about how the system works to use little things like that to frame people, and it would be extremely easy to frame people if your idea of an investigation is that simple.


And confessions are not exactly reliable anyway. Police are known for coercing them out of people.

For once I strongly believe that the State of Texas should be our role model for dealing with scum like this and execute them.

Guarantee me with 100% certainty that they are all actually guilty of doing the crime and I could agree with you. But, as history shows us, you can't. SO I don't support it.

Just one look at all the people who have been on death row and who have later been exonerated should tell anyone that the justice system is extremely flawed.

Especially when it comes to violent crimes, like murder and rape.

The police have to catch somebody in a case like that. The prosecutors must get a conviction and the judges can't afford to be the spoilers and let people off the hook.

Worst of all are probably the juries of your so called peers, it's essentially a popularity contest at that stage.

Should a man hang for raping and/or killing a girl? Absolutely.

Can this justice system safely determine that it was really him? Unlikely.

The worst is that even if someone commits the crime, if you have a lawyer who's a smooth talker, you can get out of it.

A good portion of the time there is 100% proof, eye witnesses, dna samples nowadays, confessions in detail (leading police to the body in many cases) there are a lot of grey cases out there but for the ones that are BLACK AND FUCKING WHITE don't even begin to defend those animals. Lord I hope you guys would at least put together a certain mass murderers a la John Wayne Gacy to death considering his house and yard had a whole bunch of people buried

In reality cases are almost never black and white.

Many people have been put to death with much less than what you think.

Eye witnesses can always lie and/or be mistaken.

Police who already know where the body is can easily coerce these "detailed" confessions out of people. And police have been found to coerce confessions out of people.

You have to assume that criminals might be intelligent. If you are going to take such a reckless look at evidence than it is not hard at all for a cleaver man who wishes to get away with is crime to plant DNA, hair, and any number of other samples, as well as burry bodies in someone else's flower garden.

Furthermore, it is very naïve to think that governments can be trusted with the power to execute its citizens. Power will always be abused. It is not a question of if it will be abused; it is only a question of how much of it they have to abuse.
