Hi everyone! :wavey:

Here I am with my brand new :lil k:! I am REALLY happy with them so far, and look at me type away on DAY TWO!

So Ulter and I drove back to the apartment just before 4pm yesterday. I think that was probably the worst part -- sitting in the car. Of course, before we left the surgery center, Ulter said to the nurse, "We have a long ride home... is there anything else you can give her? She's really hurting."

So the nurse asked me to rank my pain on a scale of 1 to 10... and I said it was a 7. Ulter definitely knows me. :D Thank goodness for those meds, though, because the whole way home I groaned a little.

You know that feeling in the gym when you're on rep 9 or 10 and you're grunting and it REALLY pushes your limit? That's the pain I was feeling on the way home.

Once I was in bed and sitting a little upright with bags of peas on my chest, I was a happy camper. I slept for a few hours and felt GREAT when I woke up. It hurt to move my elbows away from my body, but I was able to bend my arm at the elbow to scratch my face or something. Ulter spoon fed me soup and NSA ice cream. That was all I ate yesterday. :D

Every time I woke up last night, I felt better and better. I kept testing my arms to see if I had more mobility without pain -- because honestly, that's the ONLY thing frustrating me right now -- that I want to do two things on my own 1) move my arms and 2) get out of bed or stand up or sit up without help.

By the time I got up this morning, I felt awesome. I've been peeking at my new boobs and they look GREAT. I was also really excited to find out I haven't lost any sensation in my skin or (better yet) my nipples. HOORAY! :D

So that's about it. Today I've spent the day on the couch, watching tv, looking online, catching up on programs I TiVoed. :) Pretty relaxing.

My surgical bra doesn't suck, thank god. It's pretty comfortable. Tomorrow I am going to the doctor to have him take a look and change my bandages. I was supposed to go today but there was a time conflict with Ulter. My girlfriends are coming to visit me tomorrow so that'll be fun -- I'm sure they're going to want o play show and tell. :)

Thanks everyone for the vibes!!!:bigkiss::wavey: Love y'all.

P.S. I DID take a picture in just a tank top; I'll take another next week or so and I'll put that up too. :)

:wavey:

So glad that you are doing well and already typing away!! Sounds like all is going well post-surgery and kudos to our Ulter for taking such great care of you. You're a lucky gal!

:FRlol: You are FUNNY

TCake glad things went well for you.. enjoy the new additions. ;)

Thanks for the vibes and recovery encouragement. :D

I have to say it's hard for me to read Elite threads right now as I'm looking at my stomach going "Ugggghhhh... the bloating!" I was even sitting at lunch today, hesitant with my usual Chicken Fajitas because I am so out of it in terms of "Do I watch what I eat... or no?"

Anyway, I ate what I usually do, went to the grocery store, and by the time I got home, I was aching and needed a nap. :)

Today is Day 5, Friday. I had my breast aug on Monday and the last few days have been alright.

Monday night -- I spent most of the night in bed or just watching tv. I was really tired, but I managed to call a few people and let them know how good I was feeling. I pretty much remember everything too. :) Meds + frozen peas + sleep made everything better.

Tuesday -- Woke up and couldn't believe the difference in my arms. I wanted SO BADLY just to be able to move my elbows away from my body, and I knew I could do it by now... but Ulter still made me get help for everything. I called my sister in law who is having this done in a few weeks, and she was thrilled to hear that I was feeling so good and was surprised it was only the next day. More sleeping and bumming around; I think Ulter took me to Panera for lunch that day, so I wouldn't feel so trapped. It was great to get out.

Wednesday -- Mobility in my arms is back and I was starting to get cocky. :D My girlfriends from work came to see me that afternoon and brought me a carebasket with water and some almonds and fashion magazines -- and a Hooters t-shirt. :) The three of us and Ulter went to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen (I ordered a thin crust chicken and mushroom pizza and gave away one slice because I thought it was too big of a pizza for me). That felt great to be out. We had started weaning me off the meds... but I was getting achy and didn't quite understand why.

Thursday -- They're FALLING. Ok, there must be a shift today because my left pec is more sore than usual today. Started the massage of the muscle but it feels like it's getting tighter... again, more sleep and more meds. Getting a little stircrazy... BUT...

For Thanksgiving, Ulter took me to the California Grille at the Disney World Contemporary Resort. It's the #1 restaurant at Disney and we lucked out and got a reservation cancellation at the last minute. We had a window view that saw the water and the Magic Kingdom -- it was GREAT food (even if I did have to go wearing a hoodie and cotton pants... I felt so frumpy).

Friday -- today. See the comments earlier about a trip to the grocery store and lunch making me exhausted. I feel so bored but don't have the energy to change anything. Just sitting around makes me feel tired and sleepy and fat... so part of me wants to read Elite and part of me is starting to feel so out of shape like I'll never catch up.

It's amazing how just a few days off can really do a number on my self-image. I know I'm bloating from the stress hormones of surgery and all the water I'm holding... why I just can't realize that and relax, I don't know.

I hope you all are doing well. :)
T-Cake

Thanks for the update, Ms T-Cake! Don't make us break out the :velvett: on you for feeling like you won't catch up because of a few missed days. You've had surgery - kindly cut yourself a break here  Look at everything you've accomplished already. I doubt anyone or anything can stop you from moving forward at this point....

I'm glad you've been able to get out. I love that you got a hooters t-shirt :D Continue to take it easy, let Ulter help you when you need and I'm sure you'll be back to where you were in no time.

:rose::bigkiss:

Welcome to the twins LOL....Im glad your doing well!! All that bloated feeling will go away..that is from the surgery....i see christmas came early for Utler LOL....

You will be the happiest woman alive!!! LOL...
I think it is the best investment ever!!! Just PLEASE wear sports bra when training...other than that...enjoy!!!

Tcake how you doing girl?
Bunz, I just PMed you back. :D

Today was the 2 week mark for me from my breast aug, and I feel awesome about it. They still feel like a part of me, no weirdness whatsoever. My energy level is back and aside from the scars (and the fact that they are harder right now than normal breasts), there's really no signs that I did anything (aside from the obvious large change, hehe).

Anyway, today was the day I was allowed to go back to the gym :arty: THANK GOODNESS! The bloating was driving me crazy and it is SO HARD to cut calories from 1600 down to 1200. I can eat 1600 a day withouth problems... but it's only for maintenance if I'm not working out, so last week I just ate 1600 and bit the bullet on no weight loss. Soooo the water piled up.

Well today I was back in full force -- did a.m. cardio and managed 10 minutes on the bike to warm up my knees... and 40 more minutes on the stairmill levels 7 to 9. I sweat my butt off and man, it felt GREAT. I made sure to warm up and cool down and stretch real well to make sure I don't hurt myself, so no worries there.

I still can't do anything bouncy, like run or ellipticals, and I can't row or do anything push/pull. My guess: I have another appt in 2 weeks. I am hoping that by then I can burn the surgical bra... and he'll either tell me I can go back to running... but still no lifting... or he might be super nice and give me full clearance. Doubt that -- I think it'll be Jan. 1 before I can lift again but that's ok.

Now I"m just worried about that Disney Half Marathon Jan. 6th! I need to be sure my shins are in decent shape by then so I don't totally blow it. Arrghhhhh! Tricky!

Later babes. :D :wavey:

Great! Glad to hear the Disney Half Marathon is still on! Is that the leuk/lymph one ?
I told ww to wear a razor back bra with support (like the lightly padded ones from VS) under her sports bra & she agreed it helped quite a bit :) The girls should stay put.

Nice work with the diet.. water is annoying but it'll be gone, no worries :rose:

Good advice on the bra -- I actually bought a M sportsbra a couple months ago and got home to realize they changed how those fit, so they were too big. At the time I was annoyed, but it was great to have a bra the last couple mornings to wear at the gym without having to shop again! :D

My "twins" are staying put real well. I don't really feel any difference between when I have my bra ON and when I don't... and I think a lot of that (again) may have to do with that I had the skin already there and stretched out... so my body is adjusted to having a large chest already (since it was only 10 months ago or so that I did legitimately have one!) I just want to be able to wear PRETTY bras... and leave it off at night. Soon enough, soon enough.

Today was better in the land of TRAINING:

Cardio
I managed 10 minutes on the stationary bike and then 45 minutes on the stairmill (levels 6 to 9) this morning before work. After school, I walked another mile and a half while coaching the Running Club (since I can't run right now... I still go and coach the kids and cheer them on -- we have two coaches so the kids still have people to help them!)

Food
I ate dinner and am fixin' for a snack here soon so I should finish the day around 1500 calories or so... and probably 45% protein, 35% carbs and the rest good fats. Not too bad... still working on feeling toned up again, but I think that will REALLY kick in once I lift again.

:wavey: Ta-ta for now!

Just keep doing the eliptical for cross training until you can run again, it should keep your cardio up there....good luck with the 1/2 ..my goal is a 1/2 in the spring....5-10K are good right now lol for me

Congrats T-Cake - sounds like everything is goign well. Strap in those puppies good or a 1/2 marathon worth of bouncing is goign to make them hate u.

Hello hello! :)

Today was another decent day for the most part. Managed my cardio again and ate well, so it looks like I'm on a roll of some sort.

I just finished watching the 2nd to last episode of Biggest Loser before the Finale. Man alive, I cannot WAIT for next week! I love that show -- though I have a hard time watching parts of it because it hits so close to home having once been an obese person myself.

And on the flip side to that -- watching these people lose weight, I often forget that I don't HAVE to sit here anymore and think "I should do that". I HAVE been doing it... it's just so programmed in to me now that I don't realize just how unusually fit I am. Funny how we still find ways to nitpick ourselves when we ARE the elite. :D

Sassy and Gymgurl -- I'm AFRAID to try anything even REMOTELY bouncy right now! I used the stairmill this morning again though I was tempted to use the elliptical (the one where I can just hold on though -- not the one where I move my arms with it)... but I didn't want to hurt myself. SO running is still way off for me... but I"m going to be super strappy when I start back on that! RIght now, one sports bra is enough to hold me in place -- I'm not really in the bouncy stage... but I know it'd feel strange if I tried too early. I think I jumped up and down yesterday jokingly about something at home... and then went "Ooooh... that doesn't feel fun!" Whoops :)

That's all I got for now. Go me for posting more lately. :D :wavey:

Just lettin' ya know - even tho it feels good now, don't get ahead of yourself w/ "let's see what I can do" any time before you really need to. There's plenty of time to let the pups settle in :) Frankly I'm coming up on our 7th yr anniversary and I still sleep in a sports bra and I still strap 'em in good for any sort of mid - hi level impact aerobics.

I'm with you on that! The HS stuff made me sad to watch too mostly because it hits so close to home. I'm still scarred to this day when people look at me too much all at once... case in point:

Last night we're (Ulter and I) at Macaroni Grill for dinner and someone knocked over a pepper mill that was right above my head on this corner ledge... it came down HARD and hit me in the head. EVERYONE in the bar area and all the tables were turning around, looking at me, fussing over me, staring... the pain shocked me, but I wasn't bleeding... but what freaked me ou the most was that everyone was staring at me.

It just sent me into tears and I rushed to the bathroom, completely mortified. I still have that fear in me that people are making fun of me constantly, so it was extremely uncomfortable. Of course, when I came out of the restroom I was okay, but man I still had stares and 45 minutes later, as a couple left the place, the man said to his wife as they walked by the pepper mill "Watch out, don't hit anyone." It was just so embarassing -- *I* didn't even do anything wrong! But I can't believe how much it affected me.

Anyhow, I have 5 days left of school until Winter Break so HOORAY! Can't wait for that.

The workouts are still good. Today is day 7 in a row of my stairmill, 1-hour total (or close to it) or a.m. cardio.

I hear ya', Sassy, on wanting to push myself more to see what else I can do! I am so darn tempted to hop on an elliptical or try to at least jog... but I'm being patient with it.

This is actually a good time for me to make sure I'm STRETCHING pre- and post-workout more thoroughly than I have before. Bad habit that needs to be broken on my part.

Food was good this week too -- stayed around 1500 to 1600 all week, my ratios were 40 to 50% protein at end of day... and I of course had my cheat meal last night at dinner (post-pepper mill incident... but it was FREE!!!! They comped our meal!)

Thanks to Jen and Jaime for the well-wishes too. You ladies rock. :qt:

:wavey::heart:

Yikes, that is scary about the pepper mill falling on your head. So glad you didn't get hurt seriously and I'm sorry to hear it triggered off so much emotion in you. But I can bet my last dollar that those people were ONLY staring at you with concern and not one soul was thinking anything negative about you as a person. Heck, most were probably even thinking how cute you were ;) I hope you at least enjoyed your freebie cheat meal to the max. I always get the Skinny Chicken when I go to Macaroni Grill - I really like the chain because they publish all their nutritional info so I can eat within plan for the day.

And that stairmill routine is super impressive! I need to get back on that gauntlet soon again myself.

Enjoy your Sunday, girl! :wavey::heart:

Thanks, Roons. You always know what to say.:bigkiss:

Yes, we ordered dessert and everything there; we probably would have ordered it anyway, seeing that it was my cheat day dinner, but nonetheless, Ulter kept saying, "Way to go -- took one for the team!" :D I got a giggle out of that.

We eat there quite a bit too and yes, I love that Macaroni has their nutritional info for most things. I like to order the shrimp diavlo if I need the carbs... and I'll add extra chicken to it. If I need fat and protein, I go for the simple salmon... if I am just low on calories I'll order the halibut (it comes with this great risotto) and have some extra bread and oil -- that fish is GREAT, so is the salmon dish! :)

And today we ate at Panera -- go figure. :) It's all good. :p

Got my workout in today again on that darn stairmill. I was telling Ulter at lunch that I'm so damn competitive at the gym with whoever ends up next to me on the other treadmill or stairmill or lat pull or whatever. I refuse to let anyone beat me, go faster than me, go longer than me. It's a sickness -- but I always win. :D Gratification!

Cals for today was somewhere around 1450, 43%p, 40%c, 17%f. Not too shabby -- lately I've come closer to 40/40/10f for ratios on the weekend and then closer to 45%p or 50%p weekdays, so still having no problems there.

That's all I got for now; one week until my 1-month doctor's appointment check-up on that breast aug I had. Cannot WAIT for it because I'm hoping he'll let me run... or maybe lift... or SOMETHING. A little freaked out that I'm doing that 1/2 marathon January 6th -- can we say SHIN SPLINTS?! I really need to be in running mode by then so i can at least interval the whole thing.

:wavey: :D

Gymgurl said:
T what were your base miles on your long runs before surgury?
Hey sister. :)

Before my surgery, I was doing 3 to 4.5 miles a day, every morning. Doing just this, I made it to my 10K day (6.2 miles) and did the whole thing without blinking, amazingly enough. I just went easy and was so motivated by my surroundings... so my training method worked for me. :)

Because I workout so early during the week, I've been doing more treadmill running than outdoor just because it's safer to be inside at 5:30, 6am when it's dark out. On the weekend though, I am more likely to take it outside for a change-up.

BIG NEWS FOR T-CAKE!
Alright ladies -- I went to my surgeon today for my 1-month post-breast aug appointment AND... *drumroll*...

:arty:I HAVE FULL CLEARANCE!:arty:

For real, this is a BIG DEAL!

1st two weeks... I couldn't workout at ALL -- no cardio, no lifting, and I had to wear the SAME two bras 24/7 and rotate them (talk about a laundry bitch!)

By week 2's appointment... he said I could exercise but nothing jumpy/bouncy. So I've been doing 45 to 50 minutes daily on the stairmill (intensity 8 through 11 intervals). But I was getting BORED with it...

By the 4-week appointment TODAY... I can RUN! I can LIFT! I can do whatever exercise I want! I can wear a REAL BRA! Just no underwires and be careful with lifting over my head (which I dont' want to do quite yet... I just want to get my bis and tris and back and core and legs goin' again... pecs can still wait awhile.)

TODAY at the gym I tested this all out. I hopped on the treadmill and ran for 30 minutes then did 15 min. on the stairmill (Ulter says that stairmill is targeting my butt and shaping it better than anything else I've done, which is great because it doesn't have a shape, PERIOD), so I thought I'd just get a great workout.

I'm just so so so so happy about all this!:qt:

I think I would have gone crazy in Jan with all the cardio bunnies at the gym fighting me for ONLY the stairmill. Can you imagine feeling so limited and fighting people who dont' know what the hell they're doing at ALL?! Talk about "competitive" -- man alive, I'd be out of my darn mind! :p

Just thought I'd share my happy news with y'all. :D Time to go finish my Christmas shopping!

Thanks, chica. I bought myselft two pair of clearance earrings... and the rest of the goods for were for the family and "others" (fans of boobie-shakers). :D I'm sure I'll do a little shopping after Christmas -- there's always returns, especially now that my family hasn't seen me since June (most of them) and they have no idea what size I am.

But yes -- it was verified today by my parents (the good ones, not my odd mother) that they did buy me a Victoria's Secret gift card for Christmas. I had to ask because otherwise, I would have been ANNOYED if I waited to buy new bras when I could have had them NOW! But now I get to spend the card at the BIG SALE! :arty::elephant: Yahoo! :D

Bunz said something about pics of me over on her thread -- yeah, I know I'm in dire need... but I honestly don't have any. I definitely will after Christmas for sure. :)

Congrats on the news :D
Hope you are enjoying your holiday season this far and got that shopping all wrapped up ;)

I know I'm addicted to training when...

* I wake up and think "Oh wow, I'm not that sore!" :elephant:

* Within 5 more minutes, I'm thinking about "What can I lift today?" :elephant:

Guess I'm chompin' at the bit to get over there, eh? :chomp: You'd never know it though by the hour I just spent answering emails. :D

Yay for training! :jump:

Eh, I feel like telling what I did today. :D

Cardio
* 8 minute warm-up, level 9 on stationary bike for my knees

<insert weightlifting here>

* 30 minutes on the treadmill, did 3.15miles (a 5K) in 29:55 :jump:
* 10 minutes on the stairmill, level 8-9 to work out the kinks in my knees; did kickbacks and some sidesteps

WeightTraining

Very sporadic today. Feelin' pretty sore in the lower body so I'm not touching that quite yet -- my legs grow real fast anyway and they're still pretty big (muscle-wise -- thank God for genetics!) so they can take the break.

Upper Body Day
From what I can remember...
1) Bicep curls -- 20# dbs, 3 sets (x12, x10, x8)

2) Compound move: seated lateral raises to chest press... 10# dbs, 3 sets x 10

3) Standing side lateral raises -- 10# db, 3 sets x 12

4) Tri Pushdown -- 35#, 2 sets with v-bar, 2 sets with the rope
This was FREAKING ME OUT, because it didn't HURT my pecs, but I could feel them move... WEIRD... I kept running to Ulter saying "Are you SURE I can't get hurt?" He said "The doctor TOLD you to do it! GO!" :qt:

5) Tri Kickbacks -- 15# dbs, 3 sets x 12 ea side

:arty:FELT GREAT! Not too shabby!

There's so much more I wanted to do at the gym... but I'm waiting for my legs to heal up from the running before I go back to Good Mornings... and I want to wait a week to do anything directly to my chest (Smith Press, Arnold Press, french curls, etc.)

I'm such a weenie. :D

Diet

PWO was lunchtime:
* 2 scoops ISO in 3/4 L Crystal Light (drank 2L H2O at the gym! :jarswim: )
* Homemade Turkey O' Toole
- Soft pretzel baked in the oven
- 6 oz turkey breast
- 1 slice part-skim mozzarella cheese
- Hot n' Spicy mustard
SUPER TASTY!
* 1 yellow potato, sauteed in EVOO with rosemary and parsley

Midday snack:
* 1/2 oz almonds
* 3/4 c. chicken salad I made with shredded rotisserie chicken, ff mayo, season salt, cut up apple and celery

Dinner:
This was our holiday meal!
* Stuffin' muffins (stuffing made with apple, onion, celery, chicken broth, and prepackaged stuffing mix -- 200 calories for 2 muffin tin muffin-sized pieces... AWESOME!
* 1 slice whole grain bread
* 3/4 c. mashed potatoes (by me -- ff sour cream, little spray butter, no trans fat)
* 4 oz turkey breast
* Cran-applesauce (all natural applesauce heated stovetop with 1 can whole cranberry sauce -- DELISH!)
* crustless pumpkin pie made with ff evaporated skim milk, Splenda, and egg sub

Oh yeah -- it was a FEAST! Ulter was stuffed... I was stuffed... we were all rolling around the apartment with full bellies. :D Good day!

How completely perfect!! :chomp: I love how you were able to clean up all these recipes to have a total holiday feast! I wanna come next year ;)

You're doin' great, T-cake! Great time on the treadmill...running is so my anti-forte that I don't think I've broken 3 miles under 30mins before. And of course, you had to jump on the stepmill right after and show me up more :D I think the incline bench press compound move is a great idea. I'm going to have to try that too.

Have a great day, girlfriend! :bigkiss:

;) Victoria's and shopping, HOW FUN for you! Glad things seem to be moving right along with post op!

:bigkiss:
Thanks, darlin, you too! :qt: And omg, I'm ridiculous with my cardio -- I don't feel like I go overboard... I mean, after all, I'm dropping my last 20# of fat, I don't exceed an hour a day, and I'm lifting like mad on top of all that... but if you're on the tread or stairmill next to me... I got 'TUDE!!! ;D:evil:

I'm just so damn competitive! I'm sure none of you ladies know what that's like.:D

Hey T-twin! :qt: Thanks for checking in on me! Yeah, things are coming along with the post-op. Cardio is right back to where I left off (only took a week) AND my glutes are looking better thanks to the added stairmill work.

Today's Stuff

CARDIO
* 10 minutes stationary bike warm-up for my knees
* 35 minutes on the tread (3.15 mile run in 30:30, then 5 minutes of incline walking to cool)
* 6 minutes of stairmill intervals

WEIGHTS
Nothing crazy today... but I feel like I haven't been training my hams so I went after them today just a smidge.

* Good Mornings -- squat bar + 20#, 1 set x 12
squat bar + 30#, 2 sets x 10 (felt good -- I left off with 45 # on the bar pre-operation... I'll get back to it)

* Dead Lifts with just the squat rack bar, 1 set x 20 (did this to loosen my hams before my run; didn't have my straps or gloves, so I'll go harder next time)

* Declined abs: 3 sets x 20 ea, using full decline and 25# plate
This was big deal because I tried this last week and could only muster a 10# plate or nothing... today the 25 felt GREAT!!!)

So the plan for tomorrow is that I'm doing cardio in the morning, packing my bags and flying up to MI in the afternoon/evening. No, Ulter's not going with me. :( :( :( We had our Christmas gift stuff today -- very sweet.

Ok I'll spare you the barf-o-rama-that's-so-lame details.:D

I'll probably post tomorrow and I'm taking my laptop with me... not sure how much I'll post this weekend... but we'll see.

:lmao: I used to have that same problem in spin class back when I went... had to beat everyone around me :) But it only pushed me to go harder too so its ALLLL good!

Your cardio does impress me though for sure! I know I am soooo outta shape, I haven't done any in quite some time (no HIIT anyways) but I do miss spin class and sprints though!

Glad that you had a sweet barf o rama Christmas!!!

Great T!! Glad to hear your cardio is right back on......oh and pack a rain coat lol its raining here lol....

Have a safe flight.... No snow :( As soon as the Holiday's are over we'll get pounded and we'll wish it were gone!
Merry Christmas!

Can I just say how nice it's been to have you on more on these forums in the past few days? You spread your positive energy so well. Not to mention, you have singlehandedly convinced me I need to get back on that stairmill. I'm hopefully going to be able to get on it for a little this afternoon.

Have a safe journey home and I hope your second X'mas celebration is as "barf-o-rama-that's-so-lame" as the first ;) :santa2:

:D You're hawt, show the ladies... :rose:

WOW -- ladies, I was SHOCKED that so many of you responded to my thread!

Thanks for all the sweet compliments Ducky, T, Bunz, ck, Jamie, GG and Roons! I wish I could figure out how to quote ALL of you in this reply, but I'm just not that good yet.

First things first...

I've been in MI the last few days and things have been smooth with the fitness regiment. I worked out DAILY (except for today because the gym was closed). I have been running a 5K on the tread (goal is always to do this in less than 30 minutes, which I did) and befoe that I dabble with some weights to get myself up to par. TODAY -- my obliques hurt (45# plate dips yesterday...) and my tris are killin' (worked the shit out of them yesterday too... 35# curl bar frenches, kickbacks with 15#, etc.)

I am just so proud of myself for sticking to my regimen! :jump::elephant::D

FOOD -- MAN ALIVE, the food!

The first day I was here I had greek salad with chicken breast (dressing on the side), spinach pie, and 3/4 pita for lunch... then stirfry for dinner. I split a mini apple cobbler (coffee mug size) with my dad... and called it a day. I simply did a PWO ISO shake for breakfast. GOOD DAY #1

YESTERDAY, Christmas Eve/Dad's birthday -- PWO ISO shake for breakfast... appetizers midday were stuffed mushrooms, 3 baked cheesesticks, shrimp cocktail, and some cheese and crackers. Dinner -- red meat for the first time in MONTHS -- beef tenderloin, 1/4 c. potatoes, 1 slice garlic toast, salad... another helping of beef. :p :chomp: And yes -- 1 huge slice of cake for dessert with no-sugar-added ice cream (1/4 c. only -- it wasn't as good as REAL ice cream... so I wasn't as interested) Ulter will cringe -- but I'm calling this Good Day #2 because it wasn't a repeat of Easter 2006 and I wasn't FULL/STUFFED! I felt good! Sesapoo to the rescue! :D

TODAY -- Same amount of food yesterday but without the workout. I am officially craving protein though... and watching my mom eat at her house today, I realized that my OWN appetite has shrunk and I just can't put away food like I used to. :qt:

Happy about... I AM happy though that I can appreciate good food and don't settle for junk... and I am also thrilled that I have learned to not clean my plate if I'm not enjoying the food I'm eating.

And for the $1 million dollar question... how did mom respond when I told her I had implants?

I lived to tell about it! :D Not only did she see that I had thought out the whole process, she was also able to hear me explain to her that it's SAFE and not as risky as it was when HER friends had it done. I explained that they will settle in more in the next 5 months, that I will have minimal scarring, that I am SO HAPPY I did it because I was so depressed when I lost my chest and couldn't do anything about it.

It was all a last-minute decision to tell her... she bought me clothes and wanted me to try some on while she was talking to me... but I didn't want her to see my incisions, so I had to tell her. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT -- we made it through a whole holiday without slinging insults and screaming!

:elephant: So all in all... it's been an eventful few days. I DID get some pictures of me while at curgeo's house for his son's 1st birthday party, so I'll be sure to get some pics of me up and about at least on my myspace, if not here. I'm sure I'll take some more tomorrow and in the next day or two too because I'll be with my girlfriends a lot tomorrow.

Thanks for reading all my stuff! You girls have really been so great this year in helping me to change my life and be such inspirations. Thank you so much -- and Merry Christmas (or just good-day to you, if that's not your thing!)

Mad love, chicas, mad love. :wavey:

Sounds like a wonderful holiday!! Good job on the food/exercise and dealing with your mom - GREAT news!! Bravo!

Girlfriend, even if you had shoveled down a dozen big macs and just accomplished the above, I would have deemed your weekend a success. I am so so glad that you are repairing your relationship with your mother. I really wish I could do the same...but I haven't figured out the magic macros for that yet. My mom's birthday was this weekend and I sent her a gift and an email, but just couldn't deal with making an actual phone call. I just wasn't prepared to have my long weekend potentially ruined with direct contact...sigh!

Just read that you'll be at the Arnold in March. I am so looking forward to meeting you in person! :elephant::dance2:

Mad love right back 'atcha, girl...can't wait to see the pics! Enjoy your day with the girlfriends :rose:

First off you are welcome for the props girlie!!! I am jealous that you were able to make it through the whole holiday without all the family drama!!! Unfortunately I didn't, and what a headache that is/was!

Can't wait to meet you at the Arnold! :rose:

Hi ladies! :qt:

Thanks for all the props! :rose: x 12 to all! :D

I'm very excited to go to the Arnold and meet you all too! It's a cool surprise, so we'll have a good time regardless.

SO TODAY...

Just still relaxed with the diet.
- PWO ISO shake for breakfast
- Lunch: 2 softshell chicken tacos, 1 c. tortilla tomato broth soup, 1/4 c. beans, 1/4 c. rice
- Dinner: 1/2 seafood pizza with tomato sauce, basil, 1 slice bread, 1/2 c. salad with dressing
- Dessert: 1 c. NSA ice cream, 2 pudding cup sweetened with Splenda (Jello)

Workout
- Knees felt funny today -- started to run for about 3 minutes and my left one was bothering me, so I stopped. I am NOT going to let myself hurt my knees 2 weeks before my 1/2 marathon! I'm not crazy!
- So after I got off that treadmill, I ended up doing 45 minutes on the elliptical HIIT old-school style for me! (4 minutes on, 1 minute sprint, repeat)
- Did some declined abs with a 25# plate then went home.

So this was weird... I felt SO NAUSEOUS and dizzy when I left the gym... and it continued all the way home, in the shower, getting dressed, and then most of the afternoon.

All day I just felt sort of drunk, hungover sick... STRANGE. :worried:

So I talked to Ulter and we figured it out: RED MEAT!

I haven't eaten red meat in at least 6 months -- and here I had a huge steak yesterday AND the day before for the holidays... and I was sick sick sick!

Ugh. It was soooo :p to eat it... but made me feel :xeye: Just ODD.

So yeah... no more red meat for me for a longggggg time. Body couldn't handle it.

So tomorrow I go back to Orlando. I miss Ulter, so I'm excited to see him. :elephant: :qt:

I've really enjoyed posting more this week; I hope I still have the time when I go back to work. :wavey: Goodnight!

Can't wait to see ya at the Arnold chica! Have a safe flight back home!

Thanks, T :rose:

I made it back to Orlando safe and sound. About to head to bed, but it's good to be back. I'll post tomorrow for sure especially since my workout will surely be extensive and something to talk about. :D

:wavey: Goodnight!

I am so very happy for you and how well your life has turned around for you. And I am so glad that you had no holiday drama! I know what a drain that can be emotionally and physically.

I hope you have a very wonderful new year and good luck with your marathon!

Workout Today: Lower Body
Decided to kill my legs today... haven't trained them in a longggg time! Bring on the soreness and the pain meds!

Leg Press
1. Sled + 90# x 10
2. Sled + 110# x 10
3. Sled + 130# x 10

Good Mornings
1. Squat rack bar + 40# x 10 -- Felt my form could be better so I lowered the weights
2. Squat rack bar + 35# x 10
3. Same as set 2

Leg Extensions
1. 55# ea. leg x 9
2. Same as 1
3. 50# ea. leg x 10 -- Dropped the weight to do more reps; my quads were on FIRE!

Leg Curls
1. 50# ea. leg x 10 -- 55s were too hard on my knees
2. same
3. same

Dead Lifts
1. 60# curl bar x 10
2. 70# curl bar x 10
3. 80# curl bar x 10 -- These felt great, so I'll try to steal the squat rack bar and plates from someone next time.

I felt pretty darn good, though SORE! :p Came home and took a bath to soak the legs and then took 3 Aleve, so hopefully I'm not too sore tomorrow! I have a feeling Ulter will make me take some Taurine too... which i wont' be opposed to because (though it doesn't taste the best) it works EVERY TIME -- darnit when he's right!)

:elephant: CKC all the way! :elephant: (That's the Cool Kids Club, btw. I founded it for myself... :D)

Niiiice leg workout....I'm actually bummed that I'm not feeling sore on my end. Thought I worked out my legs hard with a 5x8 routine last night, but apparently not hard enough. Will have to take pointers from you, Ms T-Cake.

Btw, saw an article in the new Self mag written by a formerly large person who has lost a lot of weight. Thought of you since it reasonated with so much of what you say here. You should check it out if you can!

Alright NICE workout!!! You left the step mill off though didn't you??? I think you mentioned finishing up with 30 minutes on there? SO how do you get in this CKC club anyways :lmao:

God I am so fucking proud of you for continuing with the Good Mornings. I remember how the bar was hard at first....

Thank you for stopping by the house and seeing Ben. He really loved you. You made my day. Michelle as you can tell was very excited too....I wish she would have been able to hang out with you when you still lived out here. Oh well, guess we will have to visit some more.

I am going to try and make the Arnold, but money is the issue right now. If we can find a place to stay cheap we just might make the trek.

Again, thank you for stopping by....I am just glad you didn't get into a wreck with that boat you were driving...

The January issue of SELF? I love that mag! I subscribed to Shape this year instead, but both are quality.

Oh and there is a LIFETIME movie (no joke!) on Jan. 8th called "My Life as a Fat Girl". I plan to TiVo it. :D My stepmom is a LMN junkie, so I saw the commercial for it and I'm goin' for it!

SBT -- Yeah... I forgot to mention the stairmill. Good call. :bigkiss: I did do 30 minutes on that sucker after my lifting -- my legs were so dead! I set the timer for 40 minutes but crapped out at 30 -- rare for me, but it was hurtin'! :worried:

:heart:I was so glad to come see y'all anyway, it was a good time. I really hope you two make it to the Arnold -- it's really NOT that far! I just imagine it like a drive to Cedar Point and back in a day. :qt: You could totally do it! And yes, that car was HUGE -- my best friend and I started calling it the Love Boat because it was like driving a damn cruise ship... except no 24 hour buffet! :( :p Also, thanks for the kudos with the GMs... I was maxing out at bar+50# before surgery... but I HAD to drop the weight to get my core back up to par recently. I want to have good form, you know! ;) Someone taught me that!

Ok I'm about to get my new comparison photos up! You all are going to want to see this...

And ground rules and application process are still underway for the CKC! :elephant: :D

Look at you... are you just thrilled to SEE those pictures Tcake? It's like you peeled yourself OUT of your shell, yes, physically too. Wow, I am SO proud of you. I cannot even put into words your accomplishments. I know what it feels like to sit in a state of amazement when people tell you such things, and sing your praises... seems kind of surreal at times like "this is really for me???"

Your dedication is awesome ... simply AWESOME. Be very proud of yourself and in times when your mind goes back to the 'old' days... erase those thought patterns b/c THAT girl is now a grown beautiful women that spreads such happiness & motivation you need not waste any negative energy on old habits ...

Easier said than done? Sure, but look at everything you've done then ask yourself again how hard it is really ... :rose:

OK, that is by far the hardest thing I've ever posted on here... and I will probably yank them off at some point. I have BEFORE (like at 260) photos somewhere on this thread I think... or on my website which I have linked in my profile... but this is what I have accomplished since February. Thank you for looking.

Here you go for comparison now I'll put my remarks in another post ;)

GREAT JOB!!!
Arms look bigger and more 'toned', abs and obliques coming out, delts coming out, upper legs look more 'toned', and your chest looks much bigger ;) Definitely less fat around the mid-section, and hips look slimmer.

You are looking fantastic girlie!!! :bigkiss:

Like I told you last night hun, I think you are doing a remarkable job!!!! You should be MORE then proud of yourself!!! Not to mention the dedication you have daily to get to the gym and to keep pushing yourself like you do!!! :bigkiss:

I can't say anymore except that for all the hard work and effort you put into your training, you are even a better person.....And that is saying a lot considering the drastic changes you have made over the year.

Proud of you Pollock!

WOW! Ulter kept saying "Check your thread, check your thread..." Now I can see why!

Buns, you nearly made me cry!:qt: Thank you so much, sweetness -- that is really awesome coming from you. There are days where I look at what I've done -- you're right -- and I get super proud of myself.

But then I read about other ladies on this board and say "WOW, I could do so much better!" or "Look what SHE went through!" Some days, some MOMENTS... I feel I'm great... and other moments I feel I pale in comparison. Thank you for being an inspiration to me, too, girlie. :rose:

Arms look bigger and more 'toned', abs and obliques coming out, delts coming out, upper legs look more 'toned', and your chest looks much bigger ;)Definitely less fat around the mid-section, and hips look slimmer.

You are looking fantastic girlie!!! :bigkiss:
LOL at the bigger comment; they'd better after what I went through! :D
Thanks for taking the time to note my improvements AND post those before pictures!

Like I told you last night hun, I think you are doing a remarkable job!!!! You should be MORE then proud of yourself!!! Not to mention the dedication you have daily to get to the gym and to keep pushing yourself like you do!!! :bigkiss:
I'm stealing ideas from YOUR workouts now! Like I said... just when I start to think I'm kickin' ass... I read everyone else's logs and say "Damn! Ok, maybe I can do better." It's great that we all push each other.

I can't say anymore except that for all the hard work and effort you put into your training, you are even a better person.....And that is saying a lot considering the drastic changes you have made over the year.

Proud of you Pollock!
If Ulter's my right-hand-man, you're definitely my left! Now before you put that into inappropriate sexual content (damn Pollack!), you know what I mean -- he got me started and you helped me get into the weightlifting.

THAT has been a huge component to my recent success and this year, and you made it so much easier and something tangible to me. I was terrified, like I was telling you during the visit last week, but now the gym is a place I reign -- not fear. :D Thanks, buddy.

:lmao: @ Sassy and Buns :D

OMG, I sure hope that damn thing is my surgical bra! If that's what I thought was fashionable, I'm in trouble! :D

Just before surgery I was a 33A and my final result is supposed to be a 34C. I have my Victoria's Secret gift card to go spend still so I'm hoping to do that tonight or tomorrow, but I'm assuming a 34C will be my bra size.

I certainly don't FEEL swollen still (Ulter says it's gone down and most of it appears to be gone by now -- it's been almost 6 weeks as of Monday), but if I am still, then I might be a 36C or a 34D or something like that. :whatever:

So anyway -- the bra in the pic is my post-surgery bra. I had to wear it (by dr's orders) for one full month, 24/7, which sucked. It's not the WORST... but it's just annoying because you just want the skin to breathe now and then.

I'm really happy I have full clearance now. Hooray! :arty: Now if I can just get myself to the mall to shop! :p

Make sure you can return any bras you get if you can't try them on -- Vic's Secret stuff sometimes doesn't match the sizes they are listed at. And you want them to fit comfortably, esp for the money they cost. Otherwise wait until you can try them on.

Thanks for the tip!

I actually mistakenly bought a bra BEFORE surgery at V.S. and talked to the salesgirl telling her I was about to undergo a "surgical growth. :lmao:

She told me that V.S. will take back any of their bras at ANY time, washed and worn even, as long as you have the receipt, since it is inevitable that mis-sizings occur or sizes change. I was really happy she told me that! I bought a 36D bra to wear right after my surgery... only to find out they meant they'd GIVE me one to wear, so I took it back no problems. :)

And look -- new avatar! I guess I couldn't make up my mind which fruit I'm feeling like! :D

Hi T-Cake,

I just read through your log. I am new here but wanted to congratulate you on your weight loss. You are definitely an inspiration. And congratulations on your new boobs. I had a tummy tuck, muscle repair and a breast lift last May. I threw in the breast lift at the last minute and am happy I did. It is exciting too buy new clothes to go with the new body.

Thanks a bunch, Claire. :rose: I'll have to come back to you in May when I have my "tummy tuck." I can't stand calling it that! So many people see it as a procedure where you get it surgically fixed without trying to correct it yourself first... and here I am getting it! Grrr! It's actually a skin surgery... so I just call it that instead. :D Whatever works!

Bunz, thanks for the kudos to my avi. I think she's ADOREABLE!

*I'm REALLY hoping these build up my delts more, especially my laterals!*

Cardio post-lift
55 minutes on the treadmill
- 10 min run 1st 10 minutes
- Remaining time to 45:00 was done in 5 min run/ 1 min walk intervals
- Last 10 min. walked on 4.0 incline @ 4.0 speed
- Running done in ranges speed 6.4 to 7.0, incline 0.5 or 1.0

All in all, real happy with the workout today. Came home, and Ulter asked to see a certain picture I had of me in HS. I was looking at other photos and just lost it crying -- I really can't believe it was me.

I just want that part of my life to just be in my past. You know, I'll be at the gym and see people who are overweight and working to do SOMETHING -- and I want to walk up and say "Never give up -- you deserve to be here and do this for you -- congratulations -- you inspire me!" Just SOMETHING.

So please everyone -- next time you're tempted to say something kind to someone in the gym who inspires you -- DO IT! I bust my ass daily (we all do) and would LOVE some recognition.

Imagine if you were INVISIBLE, as I once was EVERYWHERE (not just at the gym), and someone looking like an adonis woman came up and praised you. I know I'd feel like I was on top of the world. I think we need to support those people who don't have a lovely group like EF to turn to, you know?

Workout Report for Today

As I said this morning, my shoulders are SORE from yesterday and my legs from 2 days ago are still being rough with me.

I didn't lift today but I did NOT want to go do cardio either -- everything just hurt but I knew if I didn't I'd feel miserable all day and I wasn't down for that either, so off to the gym I went.

Cardio
- 5 min. warm-up for knees on recumbant bike
- 1 min. attempt at running -- hams hurt too much
- 1 min. attempt at walking... OWWWWW.

I decided the stairmill was lookin' real good! At least it stretches my legs out, though I sweat like a pig on that sucker!

- 45 min. on the stairmill, levels 7 to 10

Ok, and I want to point out that I was DYING today! Just really draggin' ass and I got a full night of sleep, so that is really odd for me.

The DIFFERENCE? I didn't take my Red Blast today. :(

SO -- my verdict is DEFINITELY in: This is the 3rd time now that I haven't taken my Reds for cardio and noticed a HUGE change -- the cardio is just unbelieveably better with REDs on my side.

Hey, I'm my own believer -- we're all skeptics at first right?

But yeah, never again -- I need my Reds!

Fun note of the day: I BOUGHT NEW SNEAKERS!!! :jump:

C'mon you all know that feeling... I cannot WAIT to break those puppies in tomorrow! :elephant::elephant::elephant:

Food so far today...
- ISO shake for breakfast (2 scoops + Crystal Light, PWO)
- Lunch = Asian Sesame Chicken Salad (extra chicken) at Panera, + roll
- Snack = 1/4 c. nonfat cottage cheese

Nothing crazy. Ulter bribed me with ice cream prior to my workout today... "If you workout today, I'll let you have an ice cream cone tonight."

He's ! Now that it's right in my face, I almost feel guiltier! :lmao:

Later girls :wavey:

Hey, sweetness! ;):bigkiss:

Food @ Dinner
- 1/2 white meat chicken, skin removed (2 c. chicken, chopped)
- 1 c. broccoli
- 3/4 small, toasted, plain pita bread
- 1/3 c. "fast food style" coleslaw

Totals for the day ended up around [U[1485 cals and 50% protein[/U] sooo...

Ulter took me for my ice cream I'm such a brat! :qt:

He looked up the cals earlier in the day and it was 580 cals so I finished today around 2,000 but since I didn't get an official "cheat day" today (due to Christmas being a mid-week splurge or 4) he felt a little splurge for my hard work was in order.

Not to mention I haven't missed a SINGLE cardio session OR lifting session -- I've been cookin' at the gym!

And did I mention he's told me like 20 times now "OMG, you're starting to look like a girl!" meaning my girlish figure is starting to come out -- legs are melting away, my butt has a real SHAPE, my curves are curvier... it's cool to hear. :qt:

Night! :wavey:

hey girl did you run????? How did you do!!
Hey GG. :D Nope, the Half Marathon is this upcoming Saturday, so I'll be doing it then. So far, my running progress has been good. I broke in my new shoes yesterday and so far so good -- the most I've gone in a day is just under 6 miles (45 minutes running and 15 minutes walking), so I'm sure I'm ready for it. Both paces I run and walk at are faster than teh 16 minute/mile pace required for the race timing. I'm getting nervous, though! :worried: I always get nervous.

Workout for Dec. 31st, 2006 -- Chest & Back
I did get a killer workout yesterday at the gym. It was the first time I've gone at the chest and back since my surgery that was a SERIOUS attempt, not just dabbling. Pretty happy with the results, but I had to watch what I was doing because some moves just felt WEIRD.

Incline DB Press
1. 25# dbs x 10
2. same
3. 30# dbs x 4, 25# x 8 Trying to work my way back to 30s but watching the chest!

Lat Pulldowns --> I was REAL nervous about these!
1. 75# x 10 This machine SUCKED; old. So I moved to another one; this old machine made the implants shift b/c it wasn't a smooth pull -- *shudders*
2. 75# x 10 Much better :D
3. 80# x 15 --> Start with 80# on the good machine next time

Seated Row
1. 75# x 12
2. 82.5# x 10 Start here next time with 82.5#
3. 90# x 10 Working my way back up to 97# +

Pec Deck Fly
1. 45# x 15
2. 52.5# x 12 Start here next time; good WU
3. 60# x 10 Working my way back to 67# +[/U]

All in all, good workout. I was happy that my chest appears to be bouncing back to its previous strength. My back has been worked with Good Mornings and Deadlifts and Declined sit-ups, etc. so I'm not too worried about that.

Cardio on Sunday
- 45 min. run/walk intervals (10 min. run at 6.4 to 6.8mph, incline of 0.5 or 1.0, 1 min. walk... repeat til 45 minutes are up)
- 15 min. uphill walk on 5.0 incline, speed 4.0 to strenghten shins This is really important for my race on Sat; I need to be sure my shins are up to par and won't be injured during the race.

Cool down and stretch.

I'm feeling pretty fit lately. Over my break from work, I took two days off from the gym -- Christmas Day and today -- but other than that, I've been totally on the ball with lifting and some serious Cardio. Ulter made the comment to me today that entire chunks of fat that were there in the last 2 weeks are disappearing and FAST. My body is finally kicking in and he says I'm melting away so quickly he just gets giddy about it. :qt: He knows how hard I work.

I'm a little scared to go back to work on Wednesday. I love that I've made this a real serious priority again lately and kicked my ass hardcore. I don't want to let it slip at all because it's making a huge difference, but a whole night's sleep makes a big difference too. This will require some serious planning for me at work, but I think I can do it.

However... it DOES mean that I'm still scared I can't. My mind can't seem to keep up with my body's progress -- my brain still thinks the old, high-stress, anxious, doubtful way... but my body is moving forward. *sigh* Frustrating. Everything works out, though.:wavey:

Tcake....Gotta question:

Are those shoulders sore in the muscle or in the joint? We talked about doing those upright rows before wide....Do you get joint soreness from that? If so, stop any motion that causes joint or tendon pain. Please get back with me on this. I also have some new ideas for when you are 100percent I want to throw at you.

From you pictures those hamstrings are really coming out girl. What an inspiration you are. Ben was so cranky today. He has a double ear infection, a cough and is congested. It's been a rough 2 days, hence the lack of phone call to you and Larry. I will get with you tomorrow as I have a lot of running to do. Sorry about the babbling, Labbat's blue does that.

BTW, that red blast is awesome. Tell the Ulter-dude I like it.

All shoulder work has been great thus far, including upright rows. Very pleased with it -- just trying to get my lateral delts to grow; they are slacking but the front and back are lookin' good. I also have some new ideas for when you are 100percent I want to throw at you. Oh I'm ready NOW!!! I've been doing the same moves for the last... well a LONG time, so I'm ready for a change-up! You already told me to try out lunges so I'll attack those on the next lower body workout I do (looks like that'll be on Sunday; I have my 1/2 marathon on Saturday, so I'll do lower body Sunday)
