Sumo Dead question

The bar always hits my knees as I pull it up during sumo deadlifts. What could this say about my form?
I mean, is this bad? Do I get less overload because of this?

You could try roating them out more. You may also be able to change your rythmn or distance from the bar so the bar and your knees aren't in the same place at the same time. Do you have a vid?

Not yet

maybe your squatting down too much, instead off having your hips back

Could be. I am squatting down alot... way past parallel. You'll see when I post a vid next week

The bar never hits my knees or shins. I've seen ironlions shins and nothing like that has ever happened to me!

megad, sounds like CCJ has your number. If you are starting with your knees way over the bar and your shoulders in front of it, that could be a problem.

Where are your feet when you deadlift? I find that mine don't hit the bar, but I have a pretty wide stance with my toes only 1-2 inches from the plates on either side. Also, my feet are rotated almost to a 60 degree angle which helps. The more vertical you keep your body and shins, the less likely you are to hit your knees.

Bloody shins are cool :D

I never hit my shins or knees from a sumo, always kill them conventional though. I think if you are hitting knees then you are trying to sit straight down to the bar and therefore are developing a positive shin angle(bad). Try to sitback a little more so that your shins are more vertical, and make sure you have at least a little outward angle at the knee.
