She is still sore should we wait to return to her program untill the soreness is gone. We do not want to overtrain

Soreness IS NOT and indicator of your muscle recovery status.
In other words you can be overtrained and NOT sore, and you can be sore as hell yet be perfectly fine.

Training while sore WILL make the soreness disappear, and it will be less after the next workout.

It has been shown that training muscle again will speed up the recovery (as long is it isnt a very briutal session).

Stop reading Heavy Duty and HIT THE GYM!!!

I would definately lift. I actually enjoy being sore when I lift. If its bothering her a bananna will generally help. It will help get the lactis acid(what makes your muscles sore) out of yout system!

take it easy on her to start with or she may get sick of being so sore and bail on you. :)

an experienced lifter getting too sore is training too often (most likely) or not taking in enough food or resting enough. I dont train if I am overly sore

I agree with Heavywear...

If she is new to lifting, don't overdo it. If she is still sore then wait until the soreness is gone before she lifts again. A little soreness is okay to lift with and it usually causes the soreness to go away when complete. Like Heavywear said, take it slow in the beginning and let her build up her tolerance.
