Hi All:

Woke up in the middle of the night(thursday). Went to rollover and i felt something in my neck rip!!!!!its on the right side, its the neck and runs down the right side of my spine to the middle of my back. I use two pillows and one was bunched up/wedged against the headboard. as i went to turn over i felt something tear.......

i cant turn my head confidantly. if i move my head from side to side it hurts real bad. if i let my head hang to the left side the pain shoots right down my right spine. i am unable to go into the gym. it happened during my day off, but i missed today......any ideas to quicken the healing process?

go to the doctor get some meds: muscle relaxer, pain killer, anti inflammatory and rest.

That and some massage therapy. Plus you should check on your nutrition, you might be lacking some micronutrients.

All good advice. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Get some taurine and potassium too. Probably pulled something when you were last at the gym. Take it easy and rest. Use 600-800 mg ibuprofen up to 3 times a day (if you even need it that often) for pain management. If there's no improvement in 3 days, go to the doctor.

I agree! Muscle cramps are linked w dehydration and lack of potassium.

I am 90% sure my osteopath would be able to fix your problem in 1-2 sessions - and only 10% not sure because I don't know what your injury is!

Massage therapy can do amazing things.

In the meantime - while you find an osteo or an ART practitioner (active release techniques), try this exercise:

Have someone fully depress both of your shoulders with their hands (while you sit upright in a chair with them standing behind you). Then rotate your head so that you are looking as far over your shoulder as possible. Slowly lower your head aiming to get your chin on your shoulder - you can't, but that's the stretch you are trying to achieve. Repeat once for each side.
