Squats with Plates

Hey, i posted a thread earlier about my friend having short achille tendons so when he goes down for a squat he loses balance or has to go on his toes, he does his sauats with his heels on platess and he says it feels alot better, he hardly ever did squats until i told him he has to find a way, his legs was sore and his back as well, im thinking that this is a good thing cause he wasnt use to doing squats, he says he feels better now and is going to continue to do it like that, would this be okay for him?

I am in the same situation as your friend. Most people will tell you to just stretch a lot and that will fix it. It won't. I've been lifting and stretching for 30 years and it hasn't changed much. Plates are a short term option but the BEST thing he can do for himself is to get Olympic lifting shoes with a raised wooden heel. They can be had for less than $100 and it's the best money he will ever spend...even more than a first cycle.
