squat problem..or is it?

thriller

New member
well, i started my program and it feels nice. i was squatting yesturday and when i shoot up i tend to go on my toes with out thinking, like a jumping motion. is this a bad thing since it kinda delase my next rep for a second at the top?
or is this ok since im looking for jumping power and things of the sort?
should i correct this?

I have heard that lots of people go up on their toes at the top of the movement to help increase calf strength. But, make sure you have your feet FLAT on the ground until you get to the top of the squat... then go onto your toes. Don't go onto your toes while you are still in the normal squat ROM.

T,

I use the traditional feet flat squat technique. I push off my heels and make sure that my feet are always on the floor. I think of squats as a total body workout, emphasizing the legs.

With that;

I see what you're doing as a habit that must be broken. Not because I do not do it but because you must learn to control your body completely.

When you learn to "stay down" and kepp your feet flat (and this is to assume that up to your toes is safe) then you may go back to the way you are performing squats now (toes up).

This way, you will be teaching your body to perform one way then reteaching it again. Keep learning with your mind and body.
